Lovely hotel, rooms way out of date and tired. Oh, and extortionate.
Stayed here 10 yrs ago when it was fresh, it was cheaper then and way better.
The rooms look more like Premier Inn standard to be honest now, desperately needs a revamp. Especially for the money (£400 or so). Have eaten at the restaurants before, Glasshouse is soulless, Stables is average, Collettes in pompous. Needs something more here. We ate at Prime steakhouse down the road which was stunning. The bar / lounge areas are also vibe less. Spa was exceptional, as is the golf, and the treatments were world class. Definitely wouldn't stay here again until the rooms are worth the money. But would come back to the spa.
Jewel in Watford Crown
From our arrival till our departure we were enthralled by the beautiful location, gorgeous gardens and amazing decor of the hotel and restaurants.
The Mansion has ground floor tea/entertainment rooms that are plush but in keeping with the Edwardian weekend house parties of old, think the splendour of Downtown Abbey & submerge into luxury. Our executive suite was stunning, a bathroom to luxuriate in & bed/linen/pillows fit for royalty. Superb facilities and service from all, try the Glasshouse restaurant for their made to order ice creams and yoghurts. Fabulous, can't wait to go again, highly recommended. Family business that puts your pleasure first, it is even dog friendly!
A Small blip
Having had a phone call to check our requirements ahead of arrival, it was extremely disappointing to find the room was not as requested and that even the kettle was broken.
The reception desk thankfully moved us to a different room but again sadly this lacked some of the refreshments that are part of the basic set. Again thus was so,bed quickly.
Beautiful hotel and surrounding but disappointed with rooms floor and room...nothing in comparison to lobby/ground floor and gardens
