good venue for tourimg and golf
The resort has lots to offer and is reasonably priced when taken into account.
We stayed an extra night and had some issues with light bulbs and coat hangers. Only 1 light bulb was dealt with in the main bathroom. Service at breakfast was slow with pots left on vacant tables for ages. Evening dining is best value as part of a package otherwise it is an expensive menu. Not told this by the receptionist although she booked us the table in the restaurant.
We got caught in the rain.
Wet clothes , so asked for robes in the room. I was told that we could not have robes in the room only in leisure suite...This is crazy. we could not change from wet clothes and relax.
Lion Quays Hotel & Spa
The hotel was very nice comfy bed.
Lovely well kept gardens and friendly staff.
Excellent staff, accomodation & leisure facilities, my business stay was free flowing, recommended.
Take a big cheque book with you!!
The hotel is set on the banks of the Llangollen canal.
A modern and highly maintained hotel.. The room was small but compact and had everything you need. Tea,coffee, kettle, TV and hairdryer. Same standard as a premier inn, but three times as expensive. The spa complex is good. A short walk from the hotel. The pool is a 25 mtre length. Very nice. Unfortunately one of the steam rooms was out of order. The restaurant was again highly maintained and the food was to a very good standard. But the price of food, wine and beer was extremely high. (Large cheque book required!!!)The only big problem we found with this hotel which we found very annoying was the slow attitude and response of the staff. If you do eat here please don't be in a rush. First of all you are left standing around waiting for the attention of a waitress. As we stayed mid week the restaurant wasn't busy, but we were still standing around waiting. Once we were shown to a table. We again were left for long periods of time between courses. Wouldn't like to stay in a busy period. We were always trying to attract a waitress attention. This is a four star hotel. You pay five star prices and you get two star customer service. We were constantly being apologised for" Sorry for the wait" God help you if you hold a wedding there. Or large party. Will we stay again. No. High price. Low standard!
Poor quality room
The room was very disappointing.
I booked the executive double room at 159 pound, when we arrived the place itself is beautiful but the room was very tired. Wallpaper peeling off the bedroom wall, cracks in the lamps bulbs either not working or flickering and the bed was two singles pushed together leavi a very poor nights sleep. For the money I had to pay out it made me very sad and embarrassed that I chose this place as a surprise for my fiancé for our anniversaryx.
Recent short break
Generally facilities and what is around are good but prices are a little rich for what you get particularly in the restaurant.
Some parts of the complex look tired and overused.
Very nice pleasant hotel.
Friendly staff and spa was a lovely bonus.
Slightly better than a premiere inn
Staff are all amazing, everyone is happy and can't do enough to help.
I booked ris as a special getaway thinking it would be luxurious, not sure I would use quite that word. Rooms are small, bathrooms basic and no personality to rooms. Maybe I just expected a little more for my money. However, that said we paid for the spa and a great relaxing day, was a bit busy but this and the breakfast made up for our room. I would stay again but not at the price I paid!
