Poor air conditioning, noisy as well.
Furniture is old and scruffy.
However services were very good. But the electric system needs mModernisation because it is not working properly. Staff are polite, professional and serve customers well.

poor customer service/rude staff
My wifes tinnitus was playing her up so she never attended breakfast, we did pay £18 for it each. Which was fine, however i made my toast then went to get my breakfast, when i came back the table had been cleared. i started again and when i came back the second time there was a lady at my table, she stayed for about 30 secs then left. I then went to get some toast to take up to the room for my wife, when i came back to the table there was two people being sat down on it. Raging at this point and just left and went to reception to report it, the girl on the counter in her broken english said thats not right and would look into it. There was also a piece of burnt toast in the toaster. an irish lady said was it mine and i said no and that it was there when i first came in, she then said when was that two hours!!!! so rude, i also reported this to reception. (Deaf Ears). The toast that i took to my wife, when she had finished she took out to the hallway to leave, where she encounterd a german cleaner/maid complaining to her about the plate, ranting in german, again so rude. On checking out on our second day(Of which i cancelled breakfast of course) i again reported our bad experience at this hotel to another badly speaking english receptionist (Male this time). I informed him that i would be putting my bad experiece on trip adviser. He was not bothered to say the least. Saved for a long time for this hotel and the London firework experience, only to be let down by rude people running this hotel. if we have learned anything from this experience we will in the future check that its being run by english speaking staff (Fluently) Not once did anyone apologise to us on the way we were treated.

Problem with access to our room.
There was a problem with the door to our room (100) . After half an hour of repeated requests to reception and housekeeping , maintenance was eventually summoned, the door was repaired and we were let in. Not the best of welcomes after a long journey but apart from a shaky start, the staff were pleasant and the room adequate and good value for central London.

Great room
The room was spacious, well decorated with a super king size bed. Tea/coffee making facities provided although no breakfast tea? Although I'm sure this would have been provided if I had bothered to ask. The staff were very nice and cannot be faulted, check in and out was pretty quick. Free wifi was a bonus.
The hotel is in a very good location, close to a Great Portland Street tube station and within easy walking distance of Marylebone High street, Oxford Street and James street
This is my second stay at this hotel but won't be my last

Melia White House
Lovely room but desperately needs triple glazing as the room overlooked the hotel entrance which had people standing outside smoking or waiting for cabs talking laughing till gone 3AM ! so sleep was in short supply.

Great stay
Ideally located near great Portland street tube station.
Had a great night out in James Street, the walk down Marylebone high street was well worth it.
Lovely room, asked for a quiet room and this is exactly what we got. The room was well appointed and tastefully decorated.
Will be returning in a couple of weeks so looking forward to this.
