Bathroom a bit old and rusty.
Nice hotel, great location but a bit tired and in need of a refurbish. Would expect higher standard for the price. I stay in hotels regularly and have stayed in much nicer ones for this price, although I will be returning as the beach and view are gorgeous
I marked down the Value for money section, I suggest a subsidy, or voucher system on the Bar prices for residents as they currently appeared to be somewhat excessive.
In fairness it would be useful to separate the category so that I could comment on vfm by department - ie the room rate via laterooms.com was exceptional. The food quality was excellent, however having a dead fly on my desert was off-putting - I think that there was something of a plague of small flies occurring at the time, so it wasn't a big deal to me. I would also recommend that, in the room I occupied, the pipe carrying hot water to the left of the window, is clad or insulated in someway, to prevent the room becoming excessively hot (room 305 from memory). There was a superb view from the room, however, looking out, it was noticeable that the roof gutters were full off sand and there was evidence of water ingress and rot to the windowsill.
My overall experience was that it was an excellent hotel that I would recommend to my friends and family, budget permitting. My comments are for the Quality Assurance Team and are intended to be of assistance in what is a superb Hotel, with well trained, courteous and helpful staff, who are clearly trying to establish the Sandbanks Hotel as a centre of excellence in its stunning location!
Good but not quite value
A good quality hotel, nice room, good shower and very clean.
Breakfast buffet was okay. Good service - I needed a slightly later checkout and they were more than helpful. But for £150/night outside London, it didn't quite hit the mark for value.
Stayed one night here after attending a wedding ceremony at the local Italian villa venue.
The wedding started at 1 so we needed to check in earlier than the 3pm stated time, we were pleasantly surprised when not only did they check us in early but arranged for a local taxi to get us to the wedding on time,
The standard room we booked was large well appointed & clean with a nice view along the beach towards bournemouth pier from our window
The bed was very comfy when we arrived back later & the powerful shower in the morning very refreshing followed by a large breakfast of which there was plenty to choose from. Can't fault our stay great location with a beach either side & sun terraces to relax. Would def stay again & a special thanks to Josie on reception who couldn't have been more helpful
Stayed for one night for work and arrived in the evening, in the morning opened my bedroom curtains to observe a stunning view of the beach, sea and sandbanks, will definitely come back here with my family, as there are play ares including a pirate ship literally in between the hotel and the beach!
Amazing location... not brilliant value for money
This was the most I have ever spent on a room for a holiday and whilst the location was very good I was generally disappointed.
Be warned ... There is building work going on at the moment. Next door has a massive crane and the banging and drilling was upsetting.
Expectations too high
Whilst my wife and I enjoyed our stay in the Sandbanks Hotel, we felt a little disappointed with standard of furnishings in our luxury double room, the size of the rooms are very spacious and the views out sea make up for this tired room, even if the bedroom door needed a varnish.
All staff were extremely helpful and charming, in particularly in the dinning room, breakfast was above average although not outstanding, Dinner on the first night was poor, but on the second night outstanding, never had beef so good. overall we had a good experience staying in the sandbanks if a little over priced.
Initial impression of hotel in reception and restaurant was good, however more effort with the rooms is required to bring them to the same standard as the downstairs area.
great staff and good value
Bit old fashion but excellent staff, good location and very pleasant stay
Sandbanks Hotel, not to be confused with opulence of Sandbanks itself
Located on the beautiful Sandbanks Beach, this expensive hotel has a 4* rating and commensurate price, but it does not offer the quality one expects from a top establishment.
The bland corridors, complete with stained carpets, lead through a labyrinth of doors and require accessing a function room that according to the sign is constantly in use; guests are directed on a detour to reach reception and the other facilities. The standard family room, whilst large did not have air conditioning and was too hot in the evening/night even though it was late September, what must it be like in the height of summer. The decor in the room was tired, as it is throughout the hotel, the chairs in the breakfast room/ restaurant are worn and urgently need updating. The only saving grace was the small swimming pool which was warm and ideal for my daughter, the life guard was a pleasant, helpful chap too. All in all the hotel was a real disappointment, failing short of my expectations in many areas and it is in need of a significant update before I would consider returning.
