Valley Hotel

The male member of staff who booked me in was brilliant.

All members of staff were polite, friendly & helpful. The room was nice & welcoming, however smelt 'fusty'. The pillows were quite hard & lumpy with the springs of the mattress digging into me. The shower wasn't very powerful neither worked all that great-not what I'd expect from Best Western. The food was very tasty & filling. The location was stunning. I booked this to cheer myself up & get some decent rest as I was on a work course. My plan didn't work. To top off the bad points, I had to ring reception at 2317 hrs enquiring about loud music. It appeared my room was above the bar. The fire alarm went off twice at approx 2200 - 2230 hrs. I was forced to get out of bed at 0720 hrs after hearing my neighbours clear their throat, urinate & then shower. Maybe I was extremely lucky but I won't be returning especially to relax & re-cooperate. Or recommend. Shame as its a lovely situated hotel with lovely staff!

What a lovely place to stay.

One word described our room - wow. Four poster bed, spacious, spotless, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The hotel is in a wonderful setting, in gardens by the River Severn in an interesting old house in a very convenent location. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, the food was delicious with good size portions and very good service. We couldn't fault anything about our stay and would recommend this hotel to all.

Gateway to Worlrd Heritage Site

The Valley Hotel has historically been one of the main hotels in the Ironbridge Gorge and it continues to be so.

It is ideally located for parking and visiting the many sites the Ironbridge Gorge Museum and relaxing in a historic setting.

Very enjoyable experience

We had a lovely well presented room at the very top of the original house.

Clean, quite tastefully decorated and cosy. Bear in mind there were two flights of stairs to reach it which could have been a problem for some. The decor in communal areas was not as smart as it could have been. Customer service was absolutely excellent. Naturally friendly and helpful - not forced or fake. Breakfast a good standard normal range of typical goods. Another major plus was that the hotel was in easy walking distance of Ironbridge town centre.

Short Summer Break

Very pleased with the hotel.

Everything that could well - went well, everything that could go wrong - didn't!!. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return when we next visit the area.

Poor value and disappointing

Room just average - little natural light, no view, opening window or natural ventilation, inadequate storage (no large enough drawers or shelf) and weak shower.

Breakfast mediocre - limited choice (no skimmed milk, porridge or fresh bread); fruit salad partly dried out, toast served damp and soggy, fried eggs cooked en-masse and gelatinous, "hot" buffet food lukewarm once on plate. Standard of accommodation and breakfast in no way commensurate with price.

stay spoiled by waiting staff

A really nice hotel, good room, but for us the stay was ruined by the supercillious, arrogant to the point of rudeness, and inefficient waiters in the dining room in the evening.

We had a table booked for 7.30, but it was 8pm before we were given a menu or asked if we wanted a drink from the bar, despite the fact the knew we were there and had been told thrice someone was bringing us a menu. When we finally got into the dining room it took an hour and a half to serve 2 courses, and they weren't busy. This was in complete contrast to the 2 waitresses on breakfast duty who were very efficient and good humored. Unfortunately when we checked out the receptionist was too keen to know if I wanted a loyalty card and didn't ask if everything had been ok. Get your priorities right, please.
