mediocre
Reception desk!
Evening! Receptionist wasn't that professional looking or welcoming and tried to charge me for two breakfasts even though it must obviously be clear from my booking details that I was travelling alone. Come to think of it when I gave her sixty pound for my bill of fifty five pound I don't recall getting five pound change back, and I did check my purse when I was in my room but as I wasn't certain whether it was a mistake on my behalf or hers!
Morning! Receptionist was helpful and helped me to round up my two friends for a waiting taxi by ringing the room telephone, though I've been told by my friend that phone doesn't work as they tried to use it the night before!
Room!
Loo not cleaned properly. Still skid marks from previous occupant. Also a pair of boxer shorts were left behind in room. Electrics poor! Attempt to charge up kindle in power socket next to kettle failed as socket wasn't working. Mattress poor! Like sleeping on nest of springs! Cup in room had crack in it! On a positive note the room was warm enough and there was plenty of hot water for a bath.
Hotel itself! The restaurant apart from a wedding party being held there, it was like a ghost town so went to Toby carvery instead over the road! Next morning noticed that the bar had not been cleared properly and there were dirty glasses with dregs of beer dotted around! The breakfast although adequate was cold! Staff not so friendly. Toaster took ages in the end gave up and had something else instead! I don't know whether the staff were aware but quite a lot of guest were complaining about how slow the toaster was! There was also a puddle of vomit in the front entrance which was not only exceptionally unpleasant but also a slip hazard!
I've stayed in worse accommodation but not in UK. I think its a shame as the location is handy but since I discovered that it wasn't a fluke and I know of others that have had bad experiences staying there I probably will play it safe and go with another hotel in future! if anyone asks my advice I would suggest they do the same! Which is a shame as Jehovah's Witnesses we return to Dudley twice a year for our assembly days and as a rule we are pretty loyal staying at the same decent hotel accommodation year in year out! I also have been working in the hospitality industry for a long time and know from experience Quality Hotel can do better!

Basic accomodation but good food
We stayed in a room with 3 small single beds, the duvets just fit the beds and one was up against the radiator which when on was too hot and when off was cold
The road noise if you are at the front can also be a problem
On the plus side, the breakfast is brilliant and the staff are helpful

enjoyable
This was our second time staying at this hotel and both times have been very good. We were in Dudley visiting family and were back to the hotel very late but it was no trouble gaining entry into the hotel as the night porter was easily on hand,on our second visit we were slightly late for breakfast but this was no bother to the breakfast ladies as they sorted us out with no bother . On both occasions our room was clean and lovely and warm, will be staying again .

Having dealt with the terse receptionist, entering Mordor would have been more pleasant. The room was clean. But smelt of damp, mildew and condensation on the window frame confirmed this. I opened the window. No bar meant a walk for a night cap. But, I slept ok. Job done.

In need of a refurb
The room was looking tired with dark furniture. the door had been damaged in the past and was difficult to close when leaving. All the fittings were in need of replacement as they were at least 30 years old. The bathroom was in need of a good clean with anti-fungle spray to kill off the mildew around the tiles in the bath area.

You get what you pay for
There was rust on the shower rail, the sink was cracked, a hair on the tiles which were painted over, watermarks on the tiles, the room hadn't been hoovered, the valances on the beds were all over the place, there was sticky stuff all over the bedside tables and absolutely ground in to the decorative edge, there was only one really flat uncomfortable pillow and in the wardrobe the spares were worse and one didn't have a pillow case, the windowsill was filthy as were the nets. Glad I had sleepers with me. No room in the bathroom for towels and the towel rail was rusty and behind the toilet so hard to reach to put them on. The hot water took 8 minutes to get to the sink once the tap was turned on. Oh and the receptionist couldn't get off her bum to talk to us and was what can only be politely called brusque.

Excellent, affordable hotel
All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The receptionist on check was very helpful with my grumpy husband and his difficulty with stairs. She offered an alternative forv him to get in and out.
