Re visit after 40 years!
We last stayed at The Bear over 40 years ago. Now there is a new accommodation block at the back where the car park used to be together with a paved area with tables and chairs giving it a somewhat Continental feel. Main hotel has changed little so still has that local warm feeling. Our room in the annex was clean and comfortable. We did not have an evening meal in the restaurant but did have the Sunday lunch which was very good for the price. We would stay again (but would probably not leave it another 40 years!)

Rev.
The price could have been reduced reflecting better value for money given it was a Sunday night and the hotel was quiet.

The Bear is a beautiful oldey, worldy hotel with some modern anexes attached. I would totally recommend both The Bear and Cowbridge ,which is a beautiful, quaint town. Only complaint was the room and hotel in general was over heated, which didn't lend itself to a good nights sleep and the main high street was noisy if you opened the window to cool off (I was in a front facing room!)
Some of the rooms may not be suitable for older people or those less mobile. I was in room 26 and there were lots of quite steep stairs in parts and low overhead arches (being an oldey worldy hotel when people were much shorter!).

Business Traveller
Decent hotel, with pleasant helpful staff. Car park at the rear can be difficult to find being in North Road, which is accessed further along the High Street. Good, but expensive food. Breakfast from 07.00am. Good room with free wi-fi.
