First impression was that the hotel was a bit dated but on entering reception which also housed the bar and restaurant we were pleasantly surprised, as we were with our room which was based behind reception in a separate building.
All other rooms are based within a beautiful garden setting. The location of the hotel was brilliant just a short stroll from the lake and the village. We ate in the restaurant as it was our wedding anniversary and we enjoyed a lovely meal with excellent service. All in all we had a very enjoyable weekend and would definitely stay again. A
A lovely Birthday break in the heart of the Lakes.
We enjoyed the serenity of the hotel setting.
Our room overlooked the lovely gardens even in the depths of winter. It was so peaceful yet we were only a short distance from the shops restaurants and bars. The quality of the breakfast were superb with great choices on the menu and the staff couldn't do enough for us.
lovely breakfast, very friendly staff, nice clean room with own entrance and private balcony
Bank holiday Weekend 2013
The hotel is in need of considerable upgrade.
The decor, furnishings etc. are very old fashioned and uninviting. Attention to detail was lacking certainly in our room. For example, the shower curtain has mildew or mold on the bottom. The whole of the bathroom requires modernisation as does the whole room/hotel. I do not mind paying £150 per night B & B if it is a quality establishment but I am afraid that it is not - It has an award for breakfast quite understandably because it was good. The male owner was a really nice gentleman - the nicest of all staff.
