I stay only 1 night, and it was perfect.
I arrived from the port and it took around 40 mins through the traffic.
It was very close to my destination (DCU).Romana on the front desk made me very welcome, so much so, i stayed a second night too. The gym is excellent (only critique is they need to have wipes for the equipment after use) and the pool was excellent. Room was comfy but cannot believe the bar ran out of Guinness!. I will be back though.
The Hotel could do with an overhaul- very dated.Bath shower only.
When checking out te receptionist continually answered the phone while dealing with my payment. She did not speak to me throughout the complete transaction. I was not asked if everything was satisfactory or wished a nice day or thank you- nothing!
Having got lost finding the hotel (a Sat Nav in Dublin can be a recipe for disaster) I was not in a good mood when I got to the hotel in the late evening.
The Reception were brilliant sorting out my parking, room and food. They then took time to help trying to fix my mobile phone that had lost connection service, by manually searching for a different provider. This all helped to make my stay very relaxing. The room was in very good condition and food (from the bar) was well prepared and cooked in full view. Only downside, if you drive in from the airport side of Dublin, the hotel is hidden by a shopping mall, so that you can easily miss it.
The Regency Hotel
A pleasant stay room was comfortable and homely.
Staff were friendly and attentive. Down side no breakfast for the price and having to pay for parking, the rooms are expensive enough as it is. Just another revenue stream the punter has to pay.
Expensive and under construction - do not stay here
This hotel is currently being decorated and the corridors and some rooms smell of paint and plaster.
You have to dodge workmen leaving your room and there is little or no compensation for the fact you are putting up with this. The hotel parking is 9 Euro per night and there is not an alternative place to park. Food is expensive and not that great for what you pay for it. The one good thing about this hotel is the pool and gym which are lovely but you have to buy a swimming hat to use the pool which is another unexpected cost of 3 Euro. This hotel will charge you for everything they can and its not really worth it considering the fact that it is in such a state - I say look for another hotel.
St Paddys Weekend
We came over for St Patricks weekend and found the hotel to be very good value for money and everyone very welcoming.
Brilliant stay at the Regency
My husband and I stayed at the Regency for one night to attend a concert at the 3 Arena.
The location is great as it is just off the M1/M50, really handy to get to as I am not a confident driver in the city. Our room was ready from lunch time and the staff are really pleasant and helpful. The room and the hotel are a bit worn but they have made the best of it and it was really comfortable and warm, plenty of towels and accessories etc nice and clean, fresh. View from the room was perfect overlooking Dublin. Very convenient to walk into city centre took about 35 mins (1.5miles) also plenty of buses and taxis are cheap as its not far.
The Leisure Centre is just fantastic and again really helpful staff on the desk. Facilities are spotless with a great steam room, sauna and reasonably shallow pool. Great water sprays in the pool, it was like a deep muscle massage. We didn't get any treatments but was very impressed with the range and the prices. A pint in the hotel is good value too. Highly recommend the Regency beats many of the higher ranked city centre hotels for value, convenience and facilities.
Reception staff were very unhelpful.
Breakfast was very basic - very poor selection
No seats available in either the bar or foyer for a drink when we arrived back to the hotel around 11 p.m. and no one bothered to get us one. Surely there were a few spare chairs somewhere on the premises. Food in bar earlier was cold ie steak (cold). on a chopping board with a bit of salad and a few chips. .
Only go if you want a spa and dont mind travel
The spa and gym which are a three minute walk away from the hotel are a good standard.
The hotel itself is tired, you can hear people talking in adjacent rooms, it is 15 minute taxi ride from the airport and another 15 minute taxi into town. The restaurant was closed when we went so only food availble from the bar, which was of an OK standard
Our worst experience was that they did not plan their staffing levels for breakfast, which resulted in a 20 minute queue to get a table. The queue was at one point right out into reception
