Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings
Reception staff were efficient and friendly.
Room was at the very top, bit of a maze but soon got used to it. Bathroom bin was full from previous occupant, reported this to reception staff who apologised and sent housekeeping straight away to sort. Breakfast nice selection of hot and cold food, staff efficient (plenty of them too)
Overall would recommend this hotel :)
Mercure Gloucester Bowden Hall Hotel
A beautiful setting, friendly, cheerful and helpful staff.
Hotel in need of renovation
Looking at the pictures on the internet it looked a very nice building.
On entering the building i was very disappointed with the condition and amount of much needed renovation work that was going on which was not noted on the details on Laterooms and i feel should have been. Room was ok nothing special basic but comfortable
Could do better with attention to detail
Confusing room descriptions at booking point.
Booked family room although only wanted a double to ensure a double bed. Although hotel less than 25% occupied stuck us right at the back miles from reception. Did not have first 2 choices of wine at dinner and served chips you could wring the fat out of but not eat. hardly any staff about for such a grand looking hotel. It is miles from anywhere so if you don't want to drive to dinner you will have to eat there. Wil not be back to stay at this one.
Had a fantastic two night stay here while enjoying the Victorian Christmas market at Gloucester Quays.
The hotel is set in stunning grounds, our room was newly painted and very comfortable and the staff were attentive and helpful. We had dinner on one night and the food was excellent. The breakfast was plentiful and all the ingredients were fresh. We will definitely stay here again.
Great night's sleep
I rarely sleep well when away on business but this was fine.
Return stay, slept well again
Really good night's sleep, which us rare for me.
The hotel is a little off the beaten track but usefully located for my purposes. I expect to return.
Wedding night bliss
I stayed 2 nights in Bowden Hall, the first on my own and the second with my wife after our wedding day celebrations nearby in the Cotswolds.
The room was clean, comfortable and peaceful with stunning views across the garden to the lake, and an ideal place to relax and collect my thoughts in readiness for the big event. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast set me up for the day. Although quite close to town and handy for all the main routes it is tucked away in lovely gounds and could be miles from anywhere. Would certainly recommend and stay again in the future.
Very friendly helpful staff.
Beautiful building but suffers from an unsympathetic conversion and lack of style. This was emphasised by the meeting of three different paterns of carpet in a hall junction. Overall basic but not particularly stylish rooms although they are clean. Great staff though.
I did know before I booked that the hotel did not have a lift.
I did not think it would be a problem but the room was on the 4th floor and it became a bit tiresome after a few trips up and down. Other than that it is a fantastic hotel. The location is superb and the staff are very helpful and polite. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. We dined out in the evenings so I can't comment about the evening meal. If the hotel had a lift I would not hesitate to stay again and for longer too.
