Close to the town and theatre with parking
Enjoyed our stay, an easy walk to theatre and the town in pleasant building with attentive staff.
Room at front was a bit noisy and warm but clean and comfortable.
Best Western Grosvenor Hotel
We stayed for one night in a family room at this hotel in August and it was the worst nights stay in a hotel I have ever had.
The hotel staff are very polite and the hotel and its facilities look fine. Even our room looked OK - but I did notice as soon as we entered the room that the window was open and two fans were on in the room. It wasn't a particularly hot day - but the room was like an oven all night - even with the fans going (which also made it extremely noisy!) My husband and I were with our son who is 10 years old - and this room was extremely hot and noisy especially for a family with young children. I did talk to the staff on hotel reception and they did say that they have problems with the hotel being older and keeping the rooms cool in the summer - but no other help or support was forthcoming. Not a good place to stay in the summer - even though we loved Stratford.
Room was too hot, no air con, decor dated, difficult to park, overpriced.
staff helpful, accommodation spacious (if dated) & clean, central location
Close to centre
Stayed for 3 nights in August.
Great location, only a short walk to the centre of Stratford and all the attractions. Car park tight on space but it is at least on site and only £3 per day. Only faults would be the bed, which was old and lumpy, not great if you suffer with any form of back problem. Check on arrival with taking card details for deposit, this was taken from bank along with payment on departure. Deposit refunded if no problems but this is not explained and takes approx 1 week for money to go back into account.
Hotel was very tired and in need of a revamp, staff on reception were hostile but the catering team were friendly, very hot rooms, quite uncomfortable beds, glad I had only booked for one evening
Over priced...!!!! DO NOT BOOK.....
Stayed here for 1 night thankfully wasn't ant longer, or would of checked out ASAP.
Had to wait for key too room as told room wasn't ready, said will let us know when ready, waited over an hour then went to reception to find key had been there all along. Reception staff not at all helpful, room was not the room we booked a standard double but a family room.... ok extra single bed in room boy did we need it, one side of double bed mattress had spring coming through, (found this out at 2oclock in morning)mattress so old my nan had one 50 years ago !. room had 1 fan that did nothing due to size of room window so small got bigger in shed. Asked reception for another fan to be told they had no spare with 200 plus rooms not one spare fan!!. what happens when one gets broken ?. go without !. net curtains filthy dirty and I mean black with dirt, long hairs on bed and chair, carpet needs a good hoover on it. Breakfast well what a waste of time.... the list is never ending. Will not be returning to this place or any best western hotels totally over priced. If I could zero for this hotel I would. DONT bother with this place much better places in the area
Great position but stiffiling hot bedroom !
This hotel has a great position .It is just near the canal towpath for nice stroll to the centre .However, the bedrooms were stifflingly hot .
I had read the reviews on this and the comments that the rooms were supplied with stand alone fans before booking but thought that this must just have been 1 or 2 rooms. Now I know why they are supplied so the hotel must be aware that this is a problem. Our room had the welcome suprise of a balcony and so we could at least prop the door part open with a chair except when we were out ,but even kept it open we we were asleep. Thats how hot it was . The room was a bit dusty. The patio chairs were filthy so we put carrier bags down.We had to ask for extra tea bags and milk [ on 2 on arrival ] but fresh towels [ immaculately clean ] and loo rolls were supplied without request.Staff were very nice especially bar staff. Did not eat in the restaurant as wanted to try others and also ate with family who live in Stratford. My brother who joined us for 2 nights paid for reserved parking on arrival but was later told that someone else can still take your 'plot' and if there were no spaces left you could not have a refund . I would imagine that the steps at the front of the hotel would be very difficult for those with walking difficulties but I am unsure if there are other entrances and would advise you check. All in all would look for somewhere else if revisiting.
Hotel is in an excellent location ( however there are a couple of major roads to cross - pedestrian crossings available).
Room very nice. We had a twin room right over the front door. Very spacious. However it was very hot. There was a fan in the room, but the towel radiators came on ( and heated up the bathroom and the bedroom wall!). The toilet didn't flush very well. The beds were very soft, like sleeping on a marshmallow, but were surprisingly comfortable. And at breakfast on the second morning it took 3 waiters/resses to serve me because two of them didn't speak English. The bacon on the full English had been cooked for some time and been kept warm and so was rock hard. However the scrambled eggs were the best I have ever tasted. Overall a lovely hotel and the staff very nice.
