Comments about our stay
I had breakfast & it was 9.30am- so it didn't finish for 30 minutes.
I asked for another croissant as all that was left was two very screwed up ones, that were all squashed.
The man serving at breakfast told me that there was no more available & didn't offer a solution of an alternative, also there was empty bowls in the cooked options that weren't topped up when we went down.
The hotel is situated in a great place just of the motorway but the pictures of the hotel do it justice, the pool was very small, the sauna and steam room were right at the desk then lockers didnt work wasnt very clean, bed room was standard but breakfast was better
Customer service great, everything else ok
We stayed for one night in a family room, there were four of us - two adults, a three year old and a one year old.
Room was a bit cramped once the sofa bed and travel cot were up and the room was a bit too warm and had a funny, stale smoke smell - both issues were helped by having the window opened but as the room was right next to the main road it was a bit noisy. Breakfast was ok, good choice of cereals, bread etc but the cooked breakfast (especially the sausages!) was quite salty and not really appropriate for little ones. Our three year old loved the pool and the staff were very friendly, helpful and gave great advice on how to get in to Chester - bus services run from right outside the hotel every 20mins or so and take you in to the centre.
Nothing really wrong with the hotel, I suppose we got what we paid for.
We requested a quiet room but were given an adjoining room on the side on the hotel by the main road so needless to say that it was noisy and we didn't get much sleep (especially with the neighbours coming in at 3:00 a.m.). The bed was reasonably comfortable and the room was generally clean. We didn't eat at the hotel.
The only thing that let the room down was the fact that previous guests had obviously been smoking in the bathroom to avoid the smoke detector in the room so the bathroom heavily smelled of smoke.
Apart from that a clean room and comfortable bed. Staff are helpful and friendly
I stayed only one night but i had a nice experience:) nice and helpful Staff, clean room and bathroom, very warm.
I would recommend it and use again
Found the hotel very dated.
Reception staff were very slow and unprofessional. They did not ask me when I checked out how my stay had been instead they tried to charge me for breakfast even though we did not have breakfast. Room was very hot and when we opened the windows the traffic noise kept us awake. People in the next room were noisy from 6am as they must have been a family sleeping over two rooms and the children were constantly knocking on door and going back and forward.
Easter in North Wales
This is a great location if you wish to do Cheshire Oaks and be close enough to taxi into Chester for a night out (20mins max only £10 ish) Only moan is 1st floor fire door banging every time someone went through it!.
Great steam room with 70's style seating!!
Hot hot hot
On entering the room, it was hot.
We turned down the radiator which was on full, and used the spa facilities. The spa facilities were lovely. On returning to the room, it was still very hot. We decided to prop open the bathroom door allowing the extract fan to run constantly. We return later to find the room had cooled slightly but was still hot. The heat made uncomfortable sleeping and the open window allowed the noisy traffic to enter the room.
