A lovely hotel in well kept grounds
I visited the area on Business travelling alone. I booked a single room. The room was clean and had everything I needed for the evening. I dined in the informal bar/dining experience, this was pleasant, a sandwich and side with a drink was £15. Quite pricey for informal dining, but the food was good and well presented. The Macdonald breakfast was delicious, a real set me up for the day ahead. Overall a nice place to stay just out of Glasgow city, customer service staff were good too.

Hmmmm McDonald Hotels...
fed up with purple rooms - the company has a business account - i jumped at the chance when i spotted an offer at the crutherland. pool, the lot. i didn't mind not booking a brekky (about £18). I got there late and tired but couldn't relax as i ha dto change rooms - the telly kept flashing up an error message covering the screen and the sound kept going on in the bathroom - fair do's these thing happen. but i couldn't still relax as i thought i'd just log on my laptop. unfortunately the wi-fi was not free - -advertised as 'available in public areas' i imagined i'd just log on in the bar. No - £20 for a day or 310 an hour or something equally exhorbitant. this day and age it should be free - i needed to send a couple of messages - buut was not going to pay for that. - even in the purple rooms you get 30 mins free. so i went to rest in the bar with a pint and watch some footy. the champions league had the backdrop of constant clashing of crockery and cutlery as the staff used the bar to bang about as much crockery and cutlery as possible. it was so draining - and became a background noise that took any relaxation away. as for my pint - the glass was full but the head was just a bit too large - symptomatic of everything in isolation up to that point that was a minor niggle - it just all seemed to add up, and left a bitter taste. i couldn't be bothered fo a swim, i went out in the morning - got my receipt - no-one asked whether i'd had a good stay - all very dismissive - smacked of complacency - a spa hotel can survive without me - but unfortunately the policy of eeking out extras - wi-fi fees, a few mls on every pint, super priced breakfasts , and little - did nothing to dispel the myth about penny pinching folk in this neck of the woods. (fortunately those people i spent my working day with were nothing of the sort). I was bombarded with map after map of where else i might find Mcdonald hotels - now i know where to avoid - Over priced and a real rip off - ring back the purple rooms

Let down by petty charges
Good quality hotel with great bar food and helpful staff, however I was left with a very sour taste when I found I had to purchase wifi access and I was also hit with a fee of £3.00 for paying my not insignificant bill of £240.00 by credit card. Disappointingly cheap gesture!!

In the country, yet close to town.
A nice and relaxing place to stay at. Very pleasant and customer orientated staff, which immediately makes you feel welcome. The room was nice and clean, with a much comfortable bed. The breakfast was of a nice variety, continental as well as cooked. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the restaurants evening menu. And with free access to gym and pool, I consider the overall experience as very good value for money (my stay was Monday to Friday).
