Bedroom very poor standard and very very small
Room was basic and in need of a good refurb.
Stayed for a weeing and the food was lovely. Wouldn't choose to go here for a weekend unless they upgrade the rooms
Fabulous castle in beautiful grounds hidden away in north east.
Lovely lounge for relaxing and delicious food in choice of restaurants. Quiet convenient room in west wing.
A good hotel
The staff, food and location were excellent.
The room was spacious and well equipped but could do with a bit of updating and there were some cobwebs. The bathroom was large and clean. We enjoyed our stay.
A really lovely hotel ...
Strongly recommend if you are in this area
Only negative point is the room we had was a bit small and cramped ... Smallest bathroom I have ever had in a hotel, so probably not good if you plan to stay several nights. We stayed just the one night so not really a problem. We were in the wing, I expect the rooms in the castle building would be bigger.
Lovely night away
Room was lovely for our night away.
Breakfast was excellent with great service. Would definitely go back to Walworth Castle!
Lovely place and excellent staff so friendly.
Especially a waiter at breakfast - an older guest was quite
sharp and demanding with him - he was very
calm and polite in reply. Well done
Tired and worn out.
Designed by someone colour-blind in the most horrendous 70s style. Food poor quality (high prices but cheapest ingredients). But staff try hard despite clearly poor leadership and remote chain management. Avoid rooms not in the main castle, which are in an annex and add being small and cramped to he bad taste and worn out decor.
Surrounded by countryside, the castle offers an ideal escape and is tastefully furnished with comfy sofas and chairs to recline, read and relax in the dying embers of the evening.
What I particularly like is they do not overdo the "history" with a balance of the modern contrasting with the old.
west wing room (disgusting)
We had to look at 3 rooms in total, all were dated and very, very basic, we had to accept the 3rd room, which had no shower cubicle, for ease of access for my wife's condition there was no others available.
In the bathroom there was mould around the bath + taps very badly. There were mould on the ceiling above the bath and all around the window. We experienced alot of disgusting !. noise during the night from next door no 15 until 3am and was woke around 5-30 am by doors banging. We asked to be moved the following morning, they said they had nothing available !. we explained in detail of our experience, we decided to go for home. This was not a nice experience at all, the staff were very pleasant. On the rooms we were offered a 1* is what we would rate also my wife has Multiple Sclerosis !. we made the staff was well aware prior to arrival and while we were there of the issues she has to deal with on a daily basis, this was we feel was ignored. We will never return to this hotel!!!.
