Hotel needs modernising and updating.
Room needed updating and redecorating. It felt dated and not very welcoming. Toilet was not stable. The shower was okay seemed dirty around the edges. Can hear a lot of corridor noise e.g. walking and doors closing.
We booked a room online with double bed however upon arrival was told there were none available and had to settle with 2 single beds.
If it's just somewhere you're after to sleep and go then it's fine.

Lacking in a few places, reasonable in most others
The hotel is well located on the East side of Birmingham, and bright and airy with good parking, but the rooms are a little tired - I had to contend with a broken toilet seat, noisy extractor fan and lampshades with cigarette burn marks on. However, the bed was comfy and clean, albeit only with two pillows. There is a bit of traffic noise from the A38. WiFi appeared to be broken during my stay, but the large TV worked well and had the full range of Freeview channels. With a spruce up, new furniture and lick of paint, this would be a very good hotel.

Excellent value for money!
Stayed here for one night for a game at Villa Park and a good result all round. The staff went that extra mile to ensure that you were comfortable, explaining all aspects of rooms, bar, breakfast etc. Downside on our stay was that the bar had no draught beers (problems with leaking gas) but bottled beers were all reasonably priced and even after hours, we were allowed to sit in the lounge space and enjoy the discussions of the game. Breakfast was not cooked fresh for the plate but held in covered units and was still very good value for money (even if just having the continental breakfast). Excellent value for money (less than £40) yet the staff had twice the charisma of most of the larger chains. Also walkable to the City Centre (15 to 20 mins) and around the same to Villa Park. Also note, FREE parking (which you cannot get in the City!).

Does what it says on the tin!!!
Payed 41 pounds for a twin room at this hotel, i can honestly say it was worth the money. Nothing posh about this place but hey it's a budget hotel! My car broke down en route to the hotel so after managing to get a football match at nearby Aston Villa with pre match drinks at local pubs, we eventually checked in. Reception member of staff was most helpful and the very comfortable twin room beds were just what me and my son needed for a decent nights sleep after our team had lost!

Convenience is Key
Service was good - friendly and responsive. The room was very small and very basic. A bit "tired", and in need of refurbishment, but okay for one night. Key for us was the convenient location for Aston University. Would stay again just for that.

room for a night
When arriving the staff were friendly and efficient , the drinks at the bar are not cheap but not much more than the average Birmingham bar . It is a good twentyfive minute walk to the centre of Birmingham, dont be fooled into thinking it is nearer. The most disappointing thing about this place is the food it is truly dreadful, you can always tell when you can smell old fatty fryers from the kitchen, then your breakfast gets cooked in one, yuck , apart from that not a bad stay nice staff, good enough rooms for £ 46.00
