3 attempts to cook a steak
Room was good but ordered a steak medium and came out 3 times blue so my colleague finished his half an hour before I was given mine, room was ok but the staff thought it was funny that they had messed my dinner up three times, originally ordered gammon but after 20 mins of waiting they then informed me they had run out.
would stay again but there is a toby carvery 0.25m away so I would suggest you dine there.
Campanile Hotel Washington
Exactly as expected clean, comfortable and the basic amenities needed for the stay.
Week of Durham and Washington with Scottish fellow.
The hotel was easy to find and had enough car park spaces , the reception is seperate to rooms and need a code to enter.
There is a small bar area and restaurant for food , Prices are bit steep for area. The staff are friendly and happy and always willing to help , the rooms are basic but do what they say and have usual ammenities. The hotel is 10 min walk from a Toby Carvery and a sports bar Champs just down the road . Its a overall a good place and reasonable price for area with good access to motorway.
First time there
Firstly, I want to be positive about my stay.
I wish to tell you that the room was clean, spacious and looked just like the photos before booking. If I was to squeeze a negative in, it would be the price. Me, personally, I didn't see it being a room for more than £40. I thought it was nice, but budget. Obviously the hotel knows more about that, although as my review is positive, I'm gonna end it by saying pleasant stay and thank you. :)
Campanile Hotel Washington
I have travelled to many countries and stayed in many hotels but this hotel would have to be the worst of them all.
The room was disgusting and so was the corridor. I'll never stay again.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The room was clean but had an odd smell. The two single beds pushed together to make a double was a little uncomfortable.
There are other options in the area
Ok hotel, rooms starting to look tired as is reception and bar/restaurant.
Bar shut at 23:00. I would pay a few more £ next time and stay in one of the other 2 hotels you drive past to get there.
Average hotel at an average price, typical stop over accomodation
Overall, the experience was a pleasant one, the staff were excellent, the food decent, and the room was clean.
However, the room decor was a bit tired, the bathroom extractor was not working, the tiles very faded and washed out. The room itself only had two power sockets, one on the floor by the bathroom door and one under the window, that seemed poor for the type of hotel this is. It is geared as a travelodge or travelinn type accomodation, very functional, not a holiday type hotel. The breakfast buffet featured all the usual fare however the cooked breakfast was a set plate, not a hot buffet, but was well cooked. With the road links its a good base for a few days as I stayed, but not a location as a holiday destination.
Worst hotel ever
When we arrived they had no room for us it was just lucky that the lady behind us in the queue was cancelling her room so we were given her disabled room it was also a good job that I took my confirmation from late rooms with me to prove that I booked it it was an awful dark dirty bedroom with only one plug socket so you couldn't even plugged the kettle on because it was halfway up the wall
We were very pleased to be able to take our two little dogs and happy to pay an extra £5 each per night.
The Hotel is good value for money and close to Gateshead and Newcastle. We did not use the Bar or Restaurant so cannot comment although the menu looked good. Good size bed also.
