Windlestrae Hotel and Leisure Club
Over All An Excellent Stay.
Nice hotel in a nice location, some areas looking a little bit tired - no visible signs of any management.
Excellent receptionist checking in, passable one checking out, the waiting times at the bar are unbelievably long - 20 minutes plus on the two occasions we went in there, we were not queuing - there were only fleeting glimpses of the barman who would run in and grab drinks presumably for somebody, somewhere else and then disappear again. Arrived at restaurant at 7.45pm to be told there was a 30 minute wait for food, could we come back in half an hour, went back 30 minutes later to be advised that there was an even longer wait for food. To be fair, when our pizzas arrived they were pretty good and good value too. The staff are very pleasant and polite but I cannot work out whether there were too few or they were really disorganised, there was absolutely no sign of there being any management on site. A real shame, good rate, nice room and with a pool etc.
Third time staying at the Windlestrae and once again enjoyed the facilities and location.
The bistro restaurant service could be better but there are alternative restaurants within the complex. The rooms given on this occasion were spacious with a connecting door which was good for children.
Enjoyable stay at the Windlestrae
My sister and I took our elderly parents on a weekend break to the Windlestrae.
We requested and got ground floor rooms as my parents have mobility problems. Our rooms were really nice and everything was clean. Some parts of the hotel are dated e.g. worn carpets, but to be honest, it is sometimes nice to go to a hotel that is a bit more homely compared to some of the hotel chains. On arrival, the lady on the reception was very friendly and helpful. Staff in the leisure pool area were polite and helpful. We had an evening meal at Monty's Pizzeria. My parents are fussy eaters but they both thoroughly enjoyed their meals, as did the rest of us. Restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful. I am a vegetarian and found the breakfast choice limiting but when I asked for scrambled eggs I was offered veggie sausages as well, which was great. All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Windlestrae and would go back again.
Accomodation a little dated, but staff excellent.
The hotel needed an upgrade as the rooms were slightly dated and paintwork damaged in places.
Also the shower had poor water pressure and didn't remain upright in the holder.
The pool was lovely and catered for all needs. The Beauty Room was also delightfull. The staff were fantastic, friendly and helpfull making me feel very welcome as were the people of Kinross. I ate the the Green Hotel as there was a better range of meals available, but I had breakfast at the Windlestrae which was perfect. Overall, as long as you don't mind a few faults I would recommend the Windlestrae as a place to stay.
We used the golf and leisure facilities and were very pleased with both.
We had booked for dinner, bed and breakfast. We liked the idea that you could choose different venues to eat which gave a really good choice. we had a very nice meal in Basil's which was fine dining.
Fan dabby dozie
I have returned to Windlestrae Hotel on many occasions.
I always enjoy my stay. Pleasant staff, comfortable room, good choice of food, leisure facilities always provide a welcomed opportunity to unwind and relax as does use of beauty salon . Windlestrae surrounding garden lovely to sit out with book and glass of wine. Happy times, both hotel and time in Kinross. Loch Leven and nature trail wonderful. Will return again and again, mostly as single traveler, have returned with friends and family....Share the good times....Thank you
Great hotel nice swimming pool staff friendly and helpful be back in August for brothers wedding mite be back before then with kids
The accommodation was not as expected
The first room (203) was ok but the windows were absolutely manky and I was disappointed in it, the bathroom was lovely.
On mentioning this we were moved to room 204. This was slightly better but the windows there were dirty too. We could here loud banging which was from the gym that backed onto the corridor. That continued till about 6.30pm. The breakfast was lovely and the staff too. It was ok, would I stay again. - probably not.
Tired & Dated
Stuck in an 1980's time warp, with original fixtures & fittings.
In desperate need of refurbishment & a bit of care & attention. Threadbare carpet in some areas, scuffed furniture, curtains hanging off half the rings there should be, grubby paintwork around door frames/high traffic areas, glass bedside lamps need a good wash, could write in the dust on top of the headboard, scummy soap mark between taps, clean but very discoloured/stained & ageing safety bath mat. Bed was adequately comfortable & bed linen was clean, as were the towels, although they had no 'fluffiness' left in them. Room otherwise clean. Based on uninspiring recommendation, did not have dinner at hotel, but breakfast ok if a little mediocre. With a bit of investment it has the makings of a nice hotel to match what I understand is a good golf course & leisure facilities. Very over-priced when comparing it higher quality hotels charging not that much more.
