Excellent Cottage - poor Spa facilities
The cottage we stayed at (C3) was absolutely superb with a beautiful fully fitted kitchen, lounge, huge fridge freezer (handy for the bubbly), huge leather pull-out comfy sofa, huge coffee table (with drafts and chess pieces within), great sized TV and wonderful views of the surrounding grounds, it was truly magical.
However, I can only rate the spa facilities as reasonable - a bit of a let down to be honest. They included a well kept clean sauna and steam room (although shame the steam wasn't infused with eucalyptus or similar as others do).
BUT what really let this Spa Hotel down (and advertised as Spa Hotel) was the pool and 'Spa' itself. Firstly the jacuzzi was part of the main pool and as such at the same temperature (can be seen from photos) . The pool although clean and beautiful was filled with children (being children and screaming) - hardly a relaxing time could be had from adults who are attempting to escape such daily life. Of course coupled with parents who fail to realise others might have spent significant money to visit this wonderful hotel, there was pool bombing, jumping and some diving which doesn't make for a relaxing opportunity. Lastly only three loungers. Very disappointed :-(
However, the Cottage, grounds and Lymington itself were idyllic.
Very spacious apartment
Stayed in Henry Tudor 2, a 2 bed ground floor apartment with 18 month old.
It's about 100m from the car park. Very spacious apartment and well equiped. Would definitely stay again.
Very pleasant seaside retreat
The apartment was comfortable and spacious with a well-equipped kitchen and everything we needed.
The grounds were pleasant and we enjoyed a game of pitch and putt overlooking the harbour. The only problem was that we had booked a two bedroom apartment on the hotel grounds but the hotel rang immediately to say the last one had just been booked, so they offered us a one-bedroom apartment on the second floor of the hotel itself, with a separate bedroom on a the ground floor. The bedroom was very convenient for the disabled member of our party except that in order to reach the apartment she had to use the lift which involved going out of the building.
Older reviews possibly unfair
A most enjoyable weekend in the main hotel in one of the apartments.
Well equipped and the staff were not to be faulted. Ate in the steak house and was pleased enough to go back the following night. Very accommodating of children and the pools are a blessing. There was a wedding on the Saturday much of which took place under our room but was all wrapped up by midnight and caused little disturbance. Will return, which says it all really.
Lovely position for a weekend break in the New Forest
The apartment was very nice (we've stayed in it before).
Excellent balcony with views over towards the Solent, made all the difference, especially as the weather was good. The grounds are super and the leisure center swimming pool is a good size for a hotel pool. It wasn't quite warm enough for a dip in the outdoor pool unfortunately. The only negative comments were that the carpet in the apartment was filthy and in need of a good shampoo and that the meal in the Leisure Center complex was spoilt by the way the food was presented. It may look good to serve fish and chips in a small frying basket, but it makes it very difficult and messy to eat. The service however was very good and the waitress commented that we weren't the first people to comment about how the fish and chips were served!
