5AA Assessed Country House Hotel Ratings explained
Castle Combe , Castle Combe, SN14 7HR
Its decadent, it’s cosseting, it doesn’t get much grander than The Manor House Hotel at Castle Combe, a country house with a difference. Smothered in 365 acres of parkland, a Peter Alliss designed golf course, Italian gardens and lawns sweeping down to the river Bybrook make the Manor a haven of peace and calm. Steeped in dramatic history and totally hospitable, the charming 14th century Manor House Hotel and Mews Cottages combine 21st century comforts, fine food, a battalion of friendly staff and unique touches that turn a simple break into a serious treat. A stylish maze of quirky hidey holes and spacious rooms some with impressive open fires, are fabulous to enjoy afternoon tea, light snacks or simply some peace and quiet.

Pretty terraces and 365 acres of stunning gardens and woodland, add to the choice of intimate space to create your own occasion, you can really Lord it at this Manor.

We have some stunning rooms and extravagant bathrooms that will certainly impress! What are you waiting for? We are ready to welcome you with open arms so pack your overnight bag and jump in the car.

The Bybrook Restaurant
The Michelin Starred Bybrook Restaurant, led by Richard Davies and his brigade of chefs, carefully combines the finest local ingredients with produce from our very own kitchen garden to create a culinary masterpiece. This year has already seen the Bybrook receive the accolade of "Wiltshire restaurant of the year" , retain its Michelin star for the third year running, reach the final of the "AA Wine Award" for the second year running and achieve the "Top City and Country Hotel Tea Award of Excellence" by the Tea Guild for afternoon tea.

Named after the river crossing the estate, Bybrook is an elegant restaurant affording some of the finest views across stunning gardens and woodland. Befitting the gorgeous Manor, the restaurant maintains plenty of grand original features including occasional stained glass windows and carved stone work.

A superb and varied al-a-carte menu and guest gourmet suppers make it the perfect venue for lunch or dinner

A real treat
Charming staff, a beautiful room in one of the "cottages" with a wet room to die for (underfloor heating and a television at the foot of the bath, no less), and truly fabulous dinner in the Bybrook restaurant - the enthusiasm and knowledge of the wine guy is infectious and informative.
I'm afraid I found the bed too firm and slept poorly.
Frankly, the rubber duck should have been complimentary!
Take time to arrive as early as possible and leave as late as you can to enjoy the grounds and the surrounding countryside.

sheer delight
We happened upon the Manor on a visit to Castle Combes. We were quite taken with the charm of the Manor and immediately decided to change our reservations in another nearby village to stay at the Manor.
We were so glad we did. And very grateful that there was room for us at the last minute thanks to LateRooms. The place was enchanting and the grounds and surrounding countryside including the woods and fields around Castle Combe provided a wonderful hiking experience.

The Manor and grounds are a wonderful place to spend a relaxing time. The staff were attentive and friendly. The room was lovely - but strange to have the bath in one corner - and there was no hand basin in the toilet.
The food however was another matter. When one is spending this amount on 'high class' dining one expects the wow factor. The parmesan bread and the morning sausage certainly had that, but while the presentation of the evening meal was beyond reproach the food itself we found disappointing. My crab looked superb, but barely tasted of crab. The turbot was very good but the accomaniments did nothing for it. The mackerel tasted bitter in parts. All in all I would have much preferred to have gone for a good, honest bar meal in a local pub.
