Did the job
The room was clean, bed comfortable, and shower was good.
For £61 it was excellent value. Nothing exceptional but it did the job.
Spring Cleaning Time.
Has this hotel run into trouble.
Front of building littered with rubbish. Net curtains need washing and some carpets shampooing. Food is ok and still good value for a quiet break with town centre easily accessible.
Quality Hotel St Albans
Good hotel staff were very nice and friendly but could have done without the train every ten minutes but this finished at eleven so not too bad.
The worst bed ever in an hotel.
The bed in room 114 is well past its useful life and needs to be renewed urgently!
Adequate for the price
Good clean accommodation but nothing special.
Cooked breakfast at 9:45am on the first morning was barely warm but ok at the same time the following morning. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Room was large and warm. Ensuite bathroom was a bit dated with a very small low level handbasin but all clean although there did not seem to be an extractor fan in the ceiling or wall. Good supply of large towels. My only minor gripe is that the room door could not be barred from the inside. This was my second visit to this hotel and found the reception experience more professional and efficient than last time.
cheap and cheerful
room was quite small.
Very hot/ stuffy. very close to railway line
What a great stay been back since.
Good stop over
Stayed one night on the way to a wedding .
Room small and not keen on the dark red decor in such a small room, but it was clean and so was the bathroom. Bed comfortable and room pretty quiet. Windows didn't open which wasn't good as the room pretty hot and we don't like air con. But we used the gym and, although small, it was fine and the breakfast was great. All in all comfy, safe, clean place to stay with nice staff.
Good Overnight Stay
Good place to stay overnight if you have business in St.Albans.aAbout 3kms.
from the centre of St.Albans
Indeterminate Quality Hotel
Well, it has qualities.
I'm just not sure what qualities. The quality of being stuck 30 years in the past, maybe. Cheap and almost-cheerful. Rat-catcher poison traps outside didn't bode well. Inside it was relatively clean but rather dated. The rooms were sparse and even more dated - the bathroom particularly so with a low-temperature, low-pressure, low-adjustability shower. The room temperature was equally unadjustable save for the gale blowing through the window that needed to be left open to let some air in. Unfortunately, that meant that the express train passing a few yards from the window was a regular 'distraction' from a good night's sleep. WiFi pretty much unusable, bar service exceedingly slow - even with no other customers. All in all, probably marginally below what you'd expect of a very budget hotel chain, but just about good enough to for a night's sleep. Overpriced for what it is, though.
