Comfortable
We stayed here the night before the Great North Run as a stop gap to lessen our journey. Was a nice comfortable room. The plumbing needs some attention as the toilet took some flushing and you could hear water going through the pipes from other rooms but not horrendously.

Friendly hotel
Although the hotel could do with some updating, its still a great place to stay, you cannot fault the staff, they are always helpful and smiling. Despite being near the airport its very quiet. Rooms are a decent size.

Good in many ways
Problems with over-heating if the weather is warm; heated towel rail can't be turned off; some tattiness in the room and bathroom; general air of tiredness in the decor in the rest of the hotel. But staff are excellent; room was spacious, bed comfortable. What little food we had was fine. Great sense of history due to the WW2 memorabilia.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The reception & bar staff were fantastic, friendly and very helpful
Our stay was short but very sweet. The evening receptionist was wonderful she could not have helped more than she did. Very friendly hotel, nice clean room and very comfy beds. Lovely quiet nights sleep. We would definitely return again.

Excellent
Room was well equipped, very clean and functional. We were only stopping for one night and did not use any other facilities, but they were the same standard as the room they would have been excellent.

Ideal when flying from Durham Tees Valley Airport
Great place for an overnight stay before an early morning flight - only two minutes walk to the terminal. The St George has lots of character and the staff welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Lovely hotel
Really quiet hotel, although near the airport was a nice area to sit outside. They had placed a fan in the room due to the really hot weather, and this was most welcome! Staff were lovely. Only issue I had was with the shower, one minute hot, one minute cold! Would stay here again.
