Its the little things that matter
For me it is the little things that can make such a difference.
Our room was fine, we have stayed in Days Inn before so we know what they offer and this was very much on par. So with rooms pretty standard across the group and comparable to competitors at this price point it is the smaller things that make a difference. Things like making sure that there are 3 of everything in the room when it is booked for three people. Only having two mugs, two cups etc isnt a major worry, but it is one that really shouldn't be an issue. Not having spares when it was raised is an issue as is laying the room out for 2 again hte next day despite my reminder and request for 3. All a bit shabby really. Customer service is so important to me and to this end i felt very let down. On arrival I was told that my pre paid room hadnt been paid for and that i would have to pay. being in receipt of a booking that clearly marked i had paid made me somewhat unwilling to pay again. One of the members of staff actually made me feel like I was trying to pull some sort of scam with the way he spoke to me, he was forceful to the point of being rude, suggesting I needed to speak to Laterooms to sort it out as it was my issue. After much haggling and my insistence that it wasnt my issue to sort, they let us stay and said they would contact laterooms next day. Not the best start to my sons 16th birthday celebrations. Turns out that there was a problem with taking the initial payment between Laterooms and Days Inn with both blaming each other for the issue, but certainly not my issue. The gentleman from the previous night was on duty again when i returned the second night and I have a feeling something must have been said, because he was so different, to the point of being totally over the top and disingenuous. Maybe his colleague had said something from the previous night. I didnt however get an apology for the previous nights shenanigans or for the room being constantly set for 2. As stated the room was in keeping with other days inn, however the little things really made it less than satisfactory.
breakfast arrangements were disappointing. We were not told that we could just go to.
Services and choose .We wre told to preorder a full meal.
Excellent & good value
Brilliant, friendly & helpful service, very clean and comfortable room, could not fault it & will definitely stay again.
I'd give it 5*'s all round.
Good for an overnight stop
Hotel is suitably located for a stopover on a journey - it is not holiday material, but doesn't purport to be.
Really nice welcoming and helpful lady on reception. Just basic decor and comfort, but that is all we required. We would have liked glasses instead of plastic cups though!
No surprises, good or bad
As expected for the money.
Children were happy and liked the fold-out bed
Days Inn "friendly hotel"
Friendly, cheerful staff prepared to go that extra bit to make your stay a memorable one that you wouldn't hesitate to repeat.
Asked to change double room to family one as we had grandchildren with us at last minute and every effort was made to find best value change which resulted in a family room with nothing extra to pay. Breakfast delivered to room at exact time requested. In all, a pleasant comfortable stay and a good nights sleep which is due to be repeated soon.
Average to good
Booking was easy, room was fine, once we got there.
I used the postcode from the web site on my GPS, but we were directed to the Days Inn on the Northbound side, whereas our booking was on the Southbound M40 site. The night desk person told us that the Postcode is the same for both sides. If this is the case, it ought to be made clear on the website so that travellers do not have to loop around two exits like we did.
I would like to suggest carpet and mattress need to spray with with anti-bacteria which is more hygiene and prevent customers from catching it.
