Excellent hotel, stayed here quite a few times.
Room high standard. Reception could have been improved this time, really nice new girl on desk, very willing and eager to learn but colleague didn't appear to want to be that helpful. Outside spa pool, salt infusion room out of order this time - which was very disappointing as this is one of the main reasons we visit this lovely hotel. Hopefully it will be fixed for our next visit.
Fantastic stay, wonderful hotel
Booked a night into this hotel to split up a long journey.
The room was gorgeous, the hotel staff were all extremely helpful and the food was lovely. I even had a chance to get a massage in the spa, which was divine. All in all, a wondeful night.
Big hotel chain feel and 3* service that pretends to be fancy
These are all small things but when in a 4* place one expects little details to be sorted eg.
a) the in room alarms to be checked from the previous resident, so they don't wake you early in the morning on your holiday b) if they have the nerve to charge £4.85 for a cup of coffee they should know what a flat white is, (not bring a capuccino with an inch of froth instead) c) once the waiter has acknowledged a mistake, they could've easily not charged for it or some other acknowledgement gesture.. d) there should not be a single hair in the bath from previous residents e) there should not be 4 diff people serving one table for breakfast with no continuity of what you asked for in the first place e) scrambled egg and mushrooms was 1 of each, rest of the plate very empty because they normally do full english and that needs room for 3 other items. All very stupid little insignificant things but there's 4*'s and 4*'s and £240 is £240 for a night!...
Enjoyed a few days here for my girlfriends birthday and would definitely come again
Thought the room was very overpriced at £245 for one night, parking at the hotel was charged extra and no breakfast was provided which was outrageous considering the cost of the room.
Tried to phone through to reception from room got no response, staff only seemed intent on selling extra value services to me. Parking invoice was delivered to room at 6am on bank holiday morning !. I would not recommend this hotel or the macdonald group!!
A lovely relaxing weekend stay
Beautiful hotel with a great spa, lovely grounds and comfortable room.
A few minutes' walk from the town centre which was great for exploring the city and going out for food. The staff were great, gave some very good tips about what to see in the city and the butler was very helpful when I accidentally injured my foot. The quality of the food was excellent, we had both breakfast and and afternoon meal one day. Would stay again!
Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel
Excellent service, good quality hotel.
Spa very relaxing.
Formulaic service not good value for money
We booked a room for two nights at £300 per night The room was excellent and the Spa interesting if a little crowded What didnt work was the customer service We asked for a quiet room and given one on the inside of the building which should be quieter.
But no one checked. It was located next to an air conditioning unit. It was the same old story " book by the Internet and get the worse room deal"
We then had a small medical emergency and needed some tweezers. The first reaction at the reception was we don't have one. When I suggested they look in the medical cabinet the girl came back a few minutes repeating the same. That may have been the case but one had a distinct impression one was an inconvenience. Properly trained staff would have tried to find the
Location of a chemist but the staff like the one the day before was formulaic with a 'can't do attitude.( I would add one exception : the concierge- local man over 20 years in age !!)
A disappointing experience
Not 5 star
Room decor tired.
Lighting very dim. Room temperature cold - air con/heating not working. Breakfast not cooked well - burned and dry black pudding, undercooked toast, no glasses left for juice, slow service. The place was also full of people who appear to think it's okay to walk around and have breakfast in the complimentary bathrobes. Concierge was good though.
The breakfast was excellent, but the evening meal was overpriced and on the evening we eat there it was of poor quality, the lamb I had was totally devoid of taste and flavour, I could have been eating anything.
My wife had pork and it was basically a piece of fat, for the price charged the whole meal was a huge let down, we will stay at the hotel again but never have our evening meal there again.
