Lovely setting, Tired outside, but nice inside

After a search engine error by Laterooms booking the wrong date, Hawkstone amended the booking at no cost (thank you Laureen).

The room was quite comfortable but don't have room 405 it is next to a giant vent that sets off like a hurricane once an hour through the night. The breakfast was nice and the staff were reasonably pleasant. The hotel is in a tiny village called Weston, the grounds are beautiful and the surrounding follies are worth a visit (discount for hotel customers). The hotel also has 2 golf courses.

Exterior and Interior

The exterior of the hotel sadly let down by lack of maintenance to the buildings.

However the interior was elegant and inviting. The food was very good and all the staff most welcoming.#

The 2 golf courses were well maintained and challenging and we did enjoy 9 holes. However a large group of Welsh society members overdid the singing and general merriment to the annoyance of other guests on Friday night.

Good value but a bit tired

Good value and very good golf courses.

Food was good, drinks were overpriced as are most hotel chain and golf resorts. Rooms were clean as were all areas but the whole hotel was just a bit tired looking and a bit dated. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Hawkstone Park

Booked rooms when attending the Shrewsbury Flower show.We had booked 2 rooms - only ones available at time of booking were 2 x twin rooms which were in the 'courtyard' doors and window frames badly needed a coat of paint, there was a problem with toilet in the room which my daughter and partner were placed in but they were very quickly moved into another room when Reception was informed.

Staff very efficient.

Enjoyable break

Although not golfers we really enjoyed our brief stay at this hotel with pleasant surroundings and fantastic walk around Hawkstone Park and the Follies.

This is a dog friendly hotel and a great location if you wish to take your pet along. The exterior could do with a bit of a facelift, but overall the interior was quite good. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was first class.

Restaurant could be better

First morning breakfast was ordered from the Kitchen; full english arrived after 30 mins with no bacon.

Second morning was a buffet service but they kept running out of some elements with seemingly no real urgency to correct this. Staffing levels looked a tad light which may be the season. Overall food when it arrived was good. Evening meal could not be faulted.

Room had a filthy kettle, lime scale in bathroom, dead bugs splattered on the walls and seemed to be infested with them outside our door.

Outdated decor and television. Small room for the amount of money. Bar was nice and staff in the bar were very friendly and helpful. At breakfast, the system was illogical and not explained well at all. If I had paid full price, I would have asked for a cleaner room.

Lovely place in lovely surroundings

Nice hotel breakfast was a little slow spent the day in the follies which was awesome, a must see place.
