100% would recommend it to a friend
Good location, rooms in good decorative order, clean, comfortable bed (my single was actually more like a small double), good breakfast, and a host who went out of his way to make my short stay as easy as possible.
Good value. No hesitation recommending.
Comfortable Central York B&B
Very efficient and comfortable stay.
Directions to find were excellent and the B&B was in comfortable walking distance of the cathedral.
Suited our requirements
Lovely guest house.
The owner was very friendly, modern decor and very clean and welcoming. It's also in a perfect position as its about 10 minutes walk from York and the cathedral. We only stayed one night but we plan to go back and would definitely stay at this guest house again. Highly recommended
Fantastic venue and a perfect stay - footprint of room a bit confining but everything else superb.
A gem of a stay!
My Easter 2016 Holiday
This is an excellent Guest House and the owners work very hard to maintain a high Standard.
Centrally located and within easy reach of the city centre and train station. Well done to the owners and staff!
Review of single en suite room
At £45 for one night, this was good value for a last-minute booking very close to York city centre.
The proprietor, Andrew Gold, was welcoming and helpful. I had planned to get some reading done, with a long evening ahead of me; but there was no chair in the room. Breakfast was basic: hot (flasked) - not boiling - water was provided for guests to make their own pots of tea; coffee was weak (was it instant stored in a coffee machine jug. - the machine itself was clean and the coffee filter bowl was empty); there were 2 choices of cereal; there was 1 variety of juice available and this was of the concentrate type; the cooked breakfast was adequate. Also, the proprietor would not accept card payment, which necessitated a 20-minute return walk to a cash point before departure, which made me late for my morning appointment. This would be easy to solve - i.e. by making it clear before arrival, preferably at the time of booking. This was explained on a sign in the room; but I had assumed this applied to guests who had not given card details online at the time of booking.
Response from hotel
Breakfast - boiling water is placed in a hot water pump dispenser. This provides hot water for tea. This keeps the water at just below boiling throughout breakfast service. Fresh filter coffee (Dou Egberts) is made in a Bravilor coffee maker. It is not instant coffee. The orange juice is Tropicana Smooth. Tropicana states that the juice is fresh and never from concentrate. 3 types of branded cereal are provided. All are very prominently displayed. The bacon, sausages and eggs are sourced from local farms.
Card Payments - as the Guest rightly points out, information about payment is clearly displayed in the room.
Check Out - I do not accept that the Guest was delayed and late for an appointment at check out. The Guest stated that he was meeting his son and that the timing was completely flexible.
Lovely b&b close to the town centre
We had a lovely stay in a very nice clean room, very polite charming hosts, breakfast was lovely with quality produce.
Excellent b&b would recommend.
great food and really comfortable room.
Clean and comfortable
Our room was clean and comfortable and our hosts very friendly and accommodating
I choose a guest house rather than a hotel for the homely feel and was not disappointed.
A very friendly welcome, great nights sleep, good quality breakfast and coffee was just what I needed.
