Overpriced even in high season!!!!.
For 2 people we paid almost £400 for 1 room, 1 night, and breakfast. The deluxe room was advertised as spacious. It certainly was not. We asked for twin beds. We were given a double bed that separated. To be fair the shower was good and the views were of the garden and Lake. However, everybody sitting in the garden could see right into the room so there was absolutely no privacy. The food was excellent but of course the lunches and dinners are extra. In short it was a lot of money for a room that we could only access from 4.00 through to 11.00 AM ( 19 hours) and 2 breakfasts. The hotel does have a nice Spa but there was a problem with getting robes before 4.00. Finally short staffed at lunch time, I saw some customers just walking away because service took too long and there was the occasional bickering amongst staff that spoilt the atmosphere.
What a view!
With stunning scenery and ideal location, this hotel is a little gem.
The only downside is that you don't have easy access to your car due to it being parked by a valet. However, the hotel and location make up for it. I would recommend staying here for a short spa break as the facilities are outstanding and the staff very helpful. Eating breakfast overlooking Lake Windermere was an absolute luxury which we would definitely like to do again.
Friendly hotel with fabulous views and great facilities
This is a great hotel with very friendly staff who are happy to help.
The location was perfect and even though parking is off site and at a charge, I felt the hotel gave a quick and reliable valet service. The room we had was lovely-immaculately clean and with a super view of the lake. Our only disappointment was that we could not stay longer. Thank you macdonald old England for your warm hospitality and professional service.
The staff are excellent and very friendly.
We were fortunate to be upgraded on our arrival and the room was fantastic with the best views of the lake, plus wineand chocolates.
We could not have asked for better.
Fabulous location, right in the heart of bowness.
Very accommodating allowing early arrival and late departure. Room and hotel spotless with fantastic views. Good size pool with top end facilities.
I was stayed the hotel at 10 of this month for two days.
The hotel lounge and view from lounge, breakfast room was wonderful. My wife book the hotel as we were went for holiday. She booked the lake view room. But we didn't get that as I went to talk with the manager called Anthony, he told us that we have to pay extra £40 for each night. That's actually hurt me. Apart from that we like the hotel and the service of the staff was wonderful. The day we came back our train was eve but we had to checked out at 11 in the morning still manager told us we can access the hotel and he actually apologize for that. We recommend the hotel. We will definitely visit next time.
Outstanding room with wonderful view.
Failed to deliver
Am currently in dispute with booking agent and hotel but no one is willing to accept responsibility for misrepresentation of TV facilities available.
Enjoyable , friendly, and relaxing
Stayed for one night with my wife, with the emphasis being on just chilling, and the Old England came up with the goods, from the Friendly staff, a room with a lake view, and the pool / spa facilities,.If i wanted to be pickie i would like to be able to check in before 4pm.
But would definitely stay again.
Very impressed with the service from everyoen encountered great location - down side was parking fee
great stay perfect location and a really good room.
thought the bar / drinks prices were appallingly high in comparison to the local area where there is a lot of choice to dine.
The reception team were the friendliest I have experienced - also why do you have to pay £10 for parking when you've paid over £100 for a room already?
