Excellent. friendly, people, lovely hotel

All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.

The food was good, I was especially pleased to see fresh tomatoes and mushrooms used. The dining room was bright and airy, a pleasant place to eat. Waterhall Country Hotel is set in countryside, quiet, even though there are planes taking off and landing nearby. Well done with sound insulation.

Didn't live up to expectations

My wife and I decided to stay here en route to the south coast after reading all the glowing reviews.

Have to say we were a little disappointed. Our room, (10 or 11), was quite small, had only a wooden stool to sit on, had a barely adequate En-suite, and was only 2 metres from a narrow but surprisingly busy road. However the bed was very comfortable so even though we were at the end of Gatwick’s runway we slept well and it was fine for a one night stay. We can’t comment on the food but a couple were having dinner and it smelled delicious. The only beer the bar had was draught Guinness or bottles of beer at £3.50. I don’t wish to be too negative as the hotel is pleasant in many ways but if you’re just staying here overnight and parking your car here while you fly away on holiday you need to do your sums carefully as the cost of room + parking + taxi transfers + maybe dinner + breakfast may make other options closer to the terminal more attractive.

Warm and relaxed lovely place to stay!

We received a very warm welcoming and throughout our stay.

The room was very spacious with lovely views over the garden. Everything was catered for and very well laid out. I would definitely recommend this for a place to stay - its like being at home :o)

Fawlty Towers

Lovely little hotel but the staff are rude, miserable and hostile.

I would never stay here again.

Response from hotel

Thank you for your review. And all because we asked you to eat your takeaway in the lounge and not the bedroom! We are proud of our cleanliness and takeaway sauce is the worst thing to remove from bedding or carpet as most people know.

Excellent hotel pity about the planes

The hotel inspector is right this is a real gem fantastic hotel especially if your flying from Gatwick the welcome was really warm and the breakfast was excellent the only negative and you really can't do anything about it is the planes which are regular if it was not for that I'd stay there for a weeks holiday!

Waterhall Country House

as i was travelling from buckinghamshire having attended a meeting and playing golf the following day in Surrey it was a great place to stop evening meals are available at a reasonable cost and a nice little bar so no need to try and find a pub.

ideal if you are travelling to gatwick airport would definately stay again.

A bit disappointed after all the reviews I read; a lovely area and attractive looking hotel, however - the car park was very full (holiday makers leaving cars) but its not a very big car park and I had difficulty parking my (small) car.

The room was small with a tiny wardrobe (the width of the coat hangers and about 2ft deep) and 1 drawer in each of the bedside cabinets for storage. No chair to sit on, just a stool. The ensuite was also compact - I'm not a big woman but couldnt get dressed in the en suite after my shower. I gather there are beautiful views from some rooms but mine overlooked the car park. The big problem was no wifi except in the reception area - I gather the thick walls prevent wifi reception. The planes from the airport do go overhead but I say I didnt hear them so wasnt disturbed. The room was neat and clean and a comfortable bed but the car parking was a worry and lack of wifi a real drawback as I needed to work. I didnt eat in so cant comment on the food. Still its cheap and near the airport
