Quality in every aspect
It is a building full of character and history, set in very pretty gardens.
The staff were all charming and went out of their way to help. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed all aspects of our stay and hope to go back again.
gem of a hotel
Steeped in atmosphere set in beautiful surroundings, this hotel is an oasis of calm and historical charm.
Staff were very welcoming and very responsive to any requests. The mezzanine level of the suite added a touch of luxury to our stay. Good quality food although a little pricey. Looking forward to another stay and trying the afternoon tea.
From booking in to leaving, we had a very enjoyable stay.
It was very busy in the bar when we arrived (1.30pm)due to a wedding. However this added to the atmosphere. We were well looked after particularly at our evening meal. The staff were superb, friendly and attentive to our needs. We were undercover to look at the venue for our wedding in 2 years, and we will certainly be adding it to our final list. The room we had was small but very cosy and spotless. Well done to all the staff!!
Bit of a curates egg
Very good but only in parts.
Staff are excellent, refurbished room was good but dining room needs attention. Afternoon tea seemed to have been prepared a good while before it was served and we got a bad night in the restaurant. Must say staff were aware of this and, at all levels, did as much as they possibly could to make amends but it did spoil our wedding anniversary celebration
We stayed at Holdsworth for a wedding and it was an idylic location.
Only problem with staying in the hotel when there is a wedding on, is that the staff do seem a little stressed which is understandable but does take the edge off the overall experience. This resulted in the breakfast being rushed and we missed out on juice and cereals etc as none of the staff explained that they were available and where they were located. However, the overall impression of Holdsworth was excellent.
Food is outstanding. service outstanding. A few issues with dust in the bathroom. I did not feel the room was worth the money. However, I would go back as they were spot on for customer service and the best breakfast ever. The meal in restaurant is amazing too.
Hotel was lovely with a warm ,comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
Nice "old world" feel. Nicely decorated bedroom with huge bed. ( superior double room) Staff were friendly and the service was very good. Lovely gardens. Really enjoyed our one night stay and felt we had had a really good break. Food was excellent. Great value for money. (late booking)
Holdsworth House Review
Great looking hotel.
My room was in a newer part of the hotel..a modern ( ish) extension and although the room was fine..it could have been in ANY hotel anywhere. The night I stayed, a Sunday, was VERY quiet..I only saw 3 other guests so felt I could have been in a better room, perhaps in one of the older parts of the hotel with more character. The room was reduced from £175 to £85. I have stayed in similar room for £60. The hotel is beautiful , but I saw it after dark on a miserable day..in Summer it would be a totally different story. Clean , efficient staff, good food but I wouldn't pay the full price for the room I had if I went again.
Service with a smile
Holsworth House enjoys a lovely setting well back from the road and with plenty of parking.
Based on a 15th Century small manor house, it has had major extensions in more recent years but these are fully linked and blend in well. We stayed 2 nights and eat in on both. The bar and dining areas are all excellent and the quality and service of the staff are of top quality.
Customer service was excellent, nice and clean and a really lovely place to stay.
