Will never know what it's like
Booked through late rooms, to arrive at hotel, to find our booking wasn't processed, and that they only had single rooms, not impressed with that.
Took the romance out of it, fortunately the guy on reception booked us into the Roxburgh at the end of George St, still an inconvenience though. Don't advertise rooms you don't have.
Lovely hotel ideally situated opposite the The dome and handy for all of the main shoips
I would definitely go back to this hotel the staff were very friendly and attentive and the location to the shops was ideal, having visited many of the other 5 star hotels in Edinburgh I would rate this one as one of the best.
I booked this hotel as part of a weekend break with my fiancee celebrating our engagement.
It's central location made our visit to Edinburgh a pleasure. The hotel is less than five minutes from the station and whilst we stayed they were busy erecting the Christmas village which is between the hotel and the station and I imagine will be gorgeous in a week or two. The hotel was clean and the staff well dressed if a little impersonal and unorganized. They had the room ready early so we were able to drop off our bags and go explore which was great. However they seemed unsure what we had booked and we were given different information twice. Whilst we were there a couple in another room were accidentally charged twice, whilst it was rectified quickly it just seemed a little unorganized. The room was large and clean and the bed amazing. Very comfortable and huge. The bathroom was a little smaller but the shower is powerful and we had plenty of high quality towels. We would definitely stay again at the price we paid. But definitely wouldn't have paid the recommended room value simply because it wasn't spectacular enough to warrant that cost. All in all a great weekend.
We enjoyed our stay but...
I think my wife and I may have got the short straw with our room.
It was small, as was the bed. Just as well we aren't big. The layout wasn't particularly functional eg the wardrobe had very limited hanging for longer items and getting the ironing board out was a bit awkward. TV remote was missing a battery. But it was otherwise fine.
An excellent central hotel
Stayed in various hotels in Edinburgh , always wanted to stay here , booked a superior room expecting luxurious accommodation, I was assured it was a superior room , small basic bathroom, room adequate no more , very abrupt welcome by receptionist , no valet parking and when I said was it ok to leave my car at the front of the hotel whilst I took my bags to the room , I was told I had 5 mins .
think she must have been wanting to finish her shift ,first impressions count . All other staff very helpful , breakfast very good but I don't think I would stay again unfortunately .
A bit tired and worn out (the room, not me!)
A lovely looking building in a central location with a nice reception area.
Our room was a bit grotty and in need of a refurbishment. Certainly not up to the standard suggested and paid for.
Extremely pleasant stay.
Front of house staff were knowledgeable and friendly.
Extremely helpful with questions I asked and requests I made. The room was very clean and neat, well equipped and comfortable.
I did not experience any noise during my stay and had two very peaceful nights sleep.
I most definately will be staying again.
