Beautiful Hotel in Central Area
We stayed in a superior room which was lovely and clean.
All staff from checking in to checking out were all friendly and willing to assist. A good choice at breakfast to cater for everyone. Will definitely stay again.
Fabulous room.Gorgeous hotel.
This is our third stay at George Hotel Edinburgh.
Our room was spacious, so was the bathroom,It was extremely clean, and importantly for us our room did not face onto George street, which meant it was quiet and conducive to a good nights sleep. It was a busy time of year and there was a short wait for a breakfast table, but the resuarant manager was working hard to co ordinate staff and keep waiting to a minimum. The choice of items for breakfast was plentiful, including a pancake making machine. The cooked breakfast was not as tasty as it looked, black pudding and haggis very grainy and bacon fatty, but the choice of other items more than made up for this. we thoroughlly enjoyed our stay. And would return again definitely.
Not quite what I expected
We have stayed in many hotels for leisure but 1st time at The George.
The entrance lobby is beautiful, a lovely welcoming and luxurious atmosphere. Staff are polite and friendly, we were very much looking forward to our stay, especially as our booking had included an upgrade to a superior deluxe room.
Our room, on the 4th floor, was nothing short of disappointing. It was spacious and clean but that's where the luxuries ended. We could have booked into a budget hotel if that was the extent of our expectations but I'd hoped for luxury, a little 'ooh' or 'wow', as I've experienced at other 4* and 5* accommodations. The decor (in particular the carpet) need upgrading, the whole room felt run down. The bed covers were worn and the sofa looked like it was fashionable in the 1980s (although in fairness it was comfortable). The bathroom was basic, nothing wrong with it but nothing 'deluxe' either. The TV was too small for the room, and it was impossible to create a relaxing tone in the room with just the lamps on as the main light above had to remain on whenever a lamp was on. I ordered room service which was good and again the staff members we encountered were excellent.
All in all, not a 'bad' experience but certainly not one that I would bother with again, we have previously stayed in the 4* hotel directly across the street from The George but our experience was from a completely different world.
The George Hotel
Very nice hotel, helpful and friendly staff.
Right in the centre of Edinburgh. Only slight problem bed in picture appeared to be king size turned out it was 2 big single beds pushed together. Room very nice though. Heating on 7th floor in the room was not very good quite cold the room. Saying that would definetly stay again though a nice hotel with friendly staff and a good dining area also.
The George Hotel
Was a lovely stay at the George in Edinburgh.
Was looking for a local hotel with the wow factor for my partner and I as a Christmas treat. It truely lived up to expectations. Great location within the centre of town, excellent customer service with complimentary mulled wine and a minced pie when we arrived in from a cold, tiring day. The room was lovely and spacious being the superior room, with great views over George street and suprising was not noisy at all. Breakfast was very tasty and excellent service from the staff. Late checking out times are always a bonus too. Definitely will come and stay here again.
Lovely hotel with nice staff in a very nice location in Edinburgh breakfast was a bit manic in busy
Lovely hotel with nice staff breakfast was a bit manic during the busy time but staff coped well and was a lovely full Scottish breakfast.
Rooms were very nice and clean Bar staff need to be more aware of who is waiting to be served at the bar stood for over 10 minutes to be servered whilst others were served immediately other than that fist class break over our 2 day stay
OUR STAY IN EDINBURGH
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the George Hotel Edinburgh.
We had a superior room which was s pacious and nicely furnished. our stay included breakfast which was good and service very good. The only negative comments is that we were staying with another couple and I booked both rooms together in September for our December stay. I requested two rooms near each other but we ended up three floors apart
Good valiue and very comfortable
Very central for shopping and tourist attractions.
We enjoyed our stay
The George Hotel
