The hotel was absolutely freezing.
I ate my dinner alone in the bar and felt like I was in The Shining, it was so cold and empty. At 11pm, I realised there was no hot water in my room. I called through to reception but noone answered. I tried room service, no answer. Eventually I managed to report the problem to the bar, who did answer. My room was changed, but it's not really what I wanted at that time with a 6am start.
Nice hotel - rooms need updating
Stayed here for a Christmas party.
Room itself is a little dated. Our net curtains were torn and there was cobwebs on the ceiling. I have to mention the fact that the lighting in the room wasn't very good at all. 2 girls trying to do hair and make up in the small bathroom (which also didn't have great lighting) was not fun. Could use some updating.
Food was great. Our meal was lovely. Decent sized portions that were polished off. Breakfast was also very nice. Greatly received after a night of drinking.
Customer service was fab. 1am we asked at reception if we could order food to our room but there was an hours wait. Not surprising as there was a big group of us, 300 odd. Was kindly offered to purchase some crisps and the receptionist even gave us some more hot chocolate sachets for free.
Overall a pleasant stay and I would return. I particularly liked the layout of the hotel.
Wasn't sure what to expect
We were there for an evening award ceremony, and were not sure after some of the reviews what we would find!.
Check in was easy, rooms were clean and definitely above average, beds comfortable. Had a bar snack for lunch which was lovely. Our function meal was lovely too, they had other functions going on so think they did well to supply such a lovely meal. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Our club have booked again for next year and we will look forward to going back.

Great value, lovely venue, friendly staff, clean rooms and well presented.
Comfy bed and a pleasant stay.
Room was a good size and the choice at breakfast was excellent.

The executive twin room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff were excellent - polite, friendly and efficient. All of this combined to create a very relaxing stay.
Annual Awards Weekend
This is the second year have attended the awards weekend.
But the first time I decided to stay for the evening function.
So I will start with lunch time cant say lunch as like last year the hotel had still not learned its lesson and there was only one member of staff on the bar trying her best to serve 150 hungry and thirsty people, we gave up after waiting 30 mins to be served.
Well I did get a cheap deal, Room was ok but as for the furniture it really needs to be replaced, ripped and ragged soft chairs do not look good in any circumstances. But apart from that its was fine,
Evening meal, ok its a function, but tepid watery soup, I think its was pumpkin but was orange water.
Main course Chicken,that was fine although not very hot,
Sweet: some kind of mousse no idea what as it had no taste. I am so glad I am not a veggie as the poor lady that sat next to me had what we could only describe as orange mush in a white bowl. We discovered in the morning that its also had a pie lid well we don't know what happened to her's . Obviously the hotel kitchen had got a good deal on Pumpkins!!. Drinks: the bar that was in the function room could not take cards and at £20 for the cheapest bottle of wine well who carries that much cash if you are going to have a good time. Also if you went to the bar that did take cards the wine was cheaper, really, come on guys.
Breakfast: Ok apart from we had to wait 40 mins for eggs for the buffet, I was asked if I would like tea or coffee, I asked for tea and got tepid coffee.
We had a morning conference and when finished we retired to the bar area and hay thee were 5 members of staff on the bar, oh well it was Monday so perhaps they only have staff working Monday to Friday. I used to manage hotels for a large group and if I had run my hotel like this I would have been in trouble. I know the issues you can have with staff but during my stay we did not see one member of management on the floor at meal times.
Disappointing stay overall
We had to be checked in to three different rooms due to the poor quality of them.
In the last room we were still not provided with a remote control & the receptionist said would bring this down to us & failed to do so. The electric heater was also broken & so the room was very cold.

Excellent - no complaints whatsoever!
Gym closed for refurbishment, did not say this on laterooms anywhere that I could see which the lady on reception quite rudely claimed that it did, rather than apologise and offer a solution.
Shower was cold and the head was close to chest height meaning for a very uncomfortable time. The room service was plain and clearly just thrown together and over priced. The bed was old and uncomfortable and the décor extremely dated. Builders right outside of my room, woke me up at 7am and were very loud the afternoon before. Went down for breakfast the next day which I had prepaid for but their was a queue of about 30 people waiting to be seated and it was clear I wouldn't be for atleast 20-30 minutes so I gave up and had to go to the garage.
