Warm welcome to a most stunning place.
Very comfortable rooms with everything you could want or need. Delicious dinner and breakfast.
Lots of history
A very interesting building with bags of history and nice people however, this is still somebodies home and rightly or wrongly they have priority.
On our anniversary we had a choice to sit at our table after dinner or go to our room as the family occupied the lounge areas and the hallway being the other area only sat a couple of people, I'm assuming it is not always like this but we felt in the way at one point, a strange thing to do to your guests. Our waitress was brilliant and really looked after us.
Lovely place to stay at
The couple who own/run this property are friendly and welcoming.
The setting is intimate and charming. The room we stayed in was spacious, beautifully furnished and warm. Breakfast was great - quite filling. Our stay there was quite brief but memorable. Loved it.
Really nice people, room and great weekend.
A Grand Weekend
A wonderfully relaxing few days in beautiful accommodation.
Hosts friendly and helpful. Would return for another stay at some point.
Interesting building, location and history. Well furnished in a grand but comfy manner.
Our stay would have been much more enjoyable without the following niggles.
Having to ring door bell to be let in each time, a pain. Starting dinner at 8pm, for all guests, with pudding served at 9:30pm meant too much of a delay between courses. TV reception intermittent. Simple cooking instructions to get best use out of theTardis, sorry, hydro-massage power shower with built in radio would have avoided two old geezers being jetted and frozen by cold water at 7:30am . Other than this our stay was good; the owners and staff looked after us well, and the food was very good. For those wanting a FULL English breakfast, look no further. Gluttony might start here!. For those wanting a sea view, a glimpse can be seen from certain points.
Response from hotel
Thank you for your kind review. Moresby Hall is a Country Guesthouse, rather than a large hotel, so the front door is not left open for security reasons. As this is our family home we secure the door in the same way you would lock your front door at home. I'm sorry dinner was too late for you.
At weekends dinner is 4 courses (including the complimentary chef's appetiser) and the table is yours for the night. We hope it is a nice dining experience, unrushed and enabling guests to enjoy the ambience at Moresby Hall. We feel one and a half hours is about right for a four course meal from start to finish. However, if guests wish to dine earlier that's not a problem and we can move things along if anyone mentions they are in more of a hurry. I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast, as we have a coveted
Breakfast Award from Visit Britain and so many lovely reviews complimenting us on the quality and choice.
Very nice place and comfortable stay...
Greeted by the friendly owner Jane, we were made to feel very welcome and we were well looked after.
Probably the best hotel breakfast ever, it was delicious... This is a beautiful historic building, set in spacious grounds. Rooms also very spacious, full of vintage furniture and character throughout. Close to Whitehaven centre as its only a short drive away. Would definately stay again. Many thanks for your hospitality!!
