Reviews - Fat Lamb Country Inn and Restaurant

4AA Assessed Inn Ratings explained
Ravenstonedale , Kirkby Stephen, CA17 4LL
The Fat Lamb has a long history of offering accommodation to travelers, stretching back some 350 years from its days as a coaching inn on the road from Sedbergh to Kirkby Stephen. Today the Fat Lamb combines modern amenities with good old fashioned hospitality, offering bed and breakfast or half board accommodation in comfortable, en-suite rooms.

The Fat Lamb has earned itself a well deserved reputation for its good food, all lovingly prepared and cooked on the premises by our own chefs
The scenery all around the Fat Lamb is quite simply fantastic, and very varied. The differing characters of the Dales on one side and the Howgills on the other make this an excellent base for countryside lovers and walkers.

Great weekend break near Kirkby Stephen 12th Jan 2014
Well, its actually about 5 miles from Kirkby Stephen and 9 from Sedbergh. But no big deal if you have a car. There is a nice walk into the small village of Ravenstonedale. Staff friendly and helpfull. Warm clean rooms with on suite wet room. Evening meals available for around £12, starters for around three to four pounds. Easily acceptable quality. BlackSheep was about £3 a pint. Breakfast was ample and easily acceptable quality. Got a good sleep and went walking a few times. Nice place to get back to after a days walk. Great fire in the main pub area. Dog friendly but kept seperate at breakfast times which is good for other customers. Large dinning areas and games area. Great weekend break especially at late room price of £99 for 2 for 2 nights.

Good food and drink. Shame its in a tired inn.
We had a good meal and drinks, but the room 8 we stayed in had a nasty old bed cover, and the bath tiles had mould growing in the grout. You would expect a lot better decor, and cleaner for the money.

ManagementResponse

We're very sorry this guest did not find everything 100% to their satisfaction, and appreciate their bringing this to our attention. We are constantly reviewing any feedback and will address any issues raised, either directly with us or through review websites. Our bed covers are all less than a year old, having been replaced during refurbishments in 2012 - we will assess their condition and replace any that have worn out. We have had some bathroom extract performance problems which unfortunately led to slight discolouration of the tile grout, which is being addressed with more powerful extract units - the discolouration itself has been resolved. The bathrooms have all also been refitted within the last year along with the bedrooms, and we have received a huge amount of positive feedback about them. We would like to thank the guest in question for choosing to stay with us, and hope that they will re-book in the future - we would be happy to discuss any further improvements with them.
