Entrance and hallways have seen better days and not very appealing however the room was spacious, modern and clean.
We did have window open and it was very noisy for a while, but then you need to expect that as it is above a pub. On the whole good value for money and I would definitely recommend.
Well-located pub with surprisingly quiet rooms and hassle free access
Coming to visit family my only concern was a place to sleep.
On that score, the pub/inn did the job perfectly. The staff in the pub, to which the Inn is connected, were helpful, though I was surprised/confused to be told by two of them that the two businesses were not connected, despite almost all my interactions being with staff in the pub.
Person whom I presume was the manager/owner was however very helpful, friendly and courteous..
No Wi-Fi, which was a disappointment, but otherwise the room features were fine. Not greatwater pressure from the shower, but that's probably not within their control.
Overall I would and probably will return, it does just what I need it to for a reasonable - London-centred - price. To a non-drinker the pub did look quite nice, good garden space and spacious interior.
No breakfast included in the price of your stay so had to pay extra for that and then there is no suitable parking,
When booking in there was no happy greetings not even a smile or a welcome
The Furzedown Hotel
The Furzedown was a very acceptable place to stay for our short break.
Fine for a night, too expensive for what you got
Too expensive for what you got, would have been better if a free breakfast was included
The All New Furzedown
I had the pleasure of staying at the newly refurbished Furzedown and was impressed with what they had done.
The Hotel is clean and tiday and the staff helpful and friendly.
cheap and cheerful
You get what you pay for.
Provided us with the necessaries, but rather basic. Comfortable beds, but no towel rails, bedside tables, decorations such as pictures. No bbc 1 or2 when wanted to watch wimbledon in room. Football priority in inn, watched wimbledon in beer garden in rain. Disappointing.
After reading the reviews about this hotel I was slightly worried about what we would find.
We arrived at the Furzedown which has its accommodation over the pub, we were booked in by a very polite and efficient young lady behind the bar, we made our way to the room number 21 and were very pleasantly surprised with the room, its was a fair size with 2 single beds with crisp clean linen and plenty of storage for our clothes etc although there was only 1 hanger but that was resolved within half an hour of me mentioning it to the barperson, the room was airy and had very obviously just been refurbished & was still waiting for a few finishing touches, lampshade missing, bedside lights not working yet & we couldn't get the TV to work, the bathroom was lovely a big shower with lots of hot water because we were on the top floor you have to wait a minute for it to come though, also there was tea and coffee making facilities. The bar down stairs does some descent food and all the staff were helpful and friendly we totally enjoyed our stay and would defiantly go there again if we are ever in the area.
Cheap and lacking basics
I understood the room price reduced from 110 to 55 per night.
This simply means I expect a room comparable with a room in Holiday Inn hotel. There is no reception for the hotel and no telephone in the room. I could not sleep first night. Central heating not working. Towels changed twice out of three nights I spent in the hotel. The best thing I found is the easy transport in the area.
