We stayed here for 1 night.
The staff were ok the breakfast was nice. The small double room was very small so not a lot of space and the shower was not very hot. It was just a basic room and very dated and in need of some decoration. The car park was too small so we had to park on a side road. The pub itself was just basic and the ladies toilet was full of work materials. I won't be staying there again.
Super comfortable bed, good breakfast
Hotel is a bit of a throwback in many ways - our room was above the pub itself with an older style locals' drinking bar below in a very old and historic-looking building, although interior isn't very original.
Full of happy drinkers in plain surroundings; you just don't get that sort of bar these days - plenty of more trendy pubs nearby if required. Hall and stairways to rooms were rather tatty and a bit offputting but our room on the 2nd floor above the pub was quite adequate with a superb, comfortable bed with very clean sheets so we slept very well. Basic and rather old (but OK) en-suite (no marble tiling and snazzy chrome taps here). Road very quiet through night but a few noisy cars and drinkers leaving later in evening; absolutely no noise from the bar itself. Parking limited but plenty across road and visible from room. Good breakfast. All in all, I would recommend for good value accommodation if passing through or needing to be right in Ripon but probably not for an extended stay or romantic break or if you only really want modern, stylish hotel room but you probably won't find many with bed and bedding as good as this. Suited us fine and staff were available when required and helpful
Ripon Races Trip
The pub and staff were excellent, and whilst the room was basic, everything was in order, and excellent value.
Great spot near town centre, and ideal for the races. Good characters in bar, and a laugh can be had with all. Would def stay again....
Fine for a one night stay. Accommodation very clean.
Parking slots very scarce.
Bar area needed a new paint over.
Very friendly, room in courtyard bedroom was recently refurbished, and was very good.
Our room was a good size, water was hot. This is a public house and not a hotel, so very cosy.
Our room was through a courtyard, was very large and the shower room was large as well, only complaint was that the yale lock on the door didnt seem to be very secure.
Excellent breakfast included.
What a little gem we've found in Ripon.
We had a room in the stable block which was so comfy and very quiet. It was only a short walk into the centre to the quaint shops and real ale pubs. The breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. We'll be back!
Good price for a Saturday night
Very reasonably priced for a Saturday night.
There wasn't really any type of welcome. When I walked into the bar, the barman didn't really acknowledge me or my girlfriend. It was the customers who asked the barman to help me and another customer who showed me the door to get up the stairs. Room comfortable and large with a large bathrooom. No bath but shower cubicle. Cleanliness was good though let down by the used and clearly not checked toilet brush to the side of the toilet or the seat in the room almost black with stains, or the nice cushion placed on the bed for style but when lifted it had red stains on the back....I wouldn't like to think what it was. Double bed divine with down duvet and with the window closed you couldn't really hear anything (including the karaoke that was apparently on that night!)
The breakfast was nice enough, though as many say, slow service. Cereals, and a good choice of hot breakfast await. When I asked for an iron and ironing board, the chef told me right away but proceeded to mess with a chain and lock whilst I waited, and waited and it seemed like when he looked up again he realised why I was still standing there. When I paid and left there wasn't even a good bye. Common courtesy, manners a smile or just some kind of conversing could get repeat business. There are plenty places to try in Ripon, hence the reason we won't be back
The White Horse
Great little place, very friendly and helpful, they couldn't do more to help.
Easy to find, met by friendly locals and bar staff who were eager to suggest places for us to visit in the area, we were given our room keys and told where to find them in the pleasant courtyard.
The rooms were small but perfectly adequate for our one night stay.
