A Warm welcome awaits you at... The White Horse Ripon - Bed & Breakfast, Guest House Accommodation. Based in Ripon, Yorkshire, the White Horse offers high quality bed and breakfast & guest house accommodation. Only 300 metres from Ripon's ancient market square, our guest house is ideally placed to explore the many delights the City has to offer. After relaxing in our bed and breakfast accommodation, Ripon offers; a host of museums, a bustling Thursday Market, and shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. There are beautiful walks along the Rivers Ure and Skell, the recently restored Canal Basin, and the jewel in the crown, Ripon Cathedral, are all within easy walking distance. From our Guest House, Ripon is ideally situated for visiting most of Yorkshire's racecourses. It is, of course the home of England's 'Garden Racecourse'. We specialise in catering for race-going groups and will be pleased to provide details of all meetings on request. Relax in our comfortable, recently refurbished bar. At weekends there is a full programme of entertainment starting on Thursday evening with our famous White Horse quiz. We also have a sports area for darts, dominoes and pool. Ripon is steeped in tradition. On the square every evening at 9:00pm the Ripon Hornblower sets the watch at the four corners of the obelisk. A short drive will take you to Fountains Abbey, one of Britain's premier World Heritage sites. Or you may like to try the thrilling rides at Lightwater Valley Theme Park.

The White Horse Ripon
It is a pity that this pub is obviously a place where some of the less-desirable locals go to drink. My arrival at the hotel was spoilt by having to witness a very acrimonious battle between some people who had had too much to drink and the downstairs bars were less than inviting. The room itself, however, was clean and well-equipped although would have been very small for the two people for which is was designed; there being little room for anything but the double bed. Even though the room was on the second floor, it was still possible to hear music from the bar on the ground-floor until quite late at night; it was about 11.30pm before it stopped. It is a shame that such an attractive, old building appears to be dependant on mainly locals for its livelihood, when the staff/owners were attentive and prompt for breakfast in the morning.

ManagementResponse

Obviously is a strong word that should only be used if the user has full knowledge of all the facts, this was obviously not the case in this instance. The weekend in question we were celebrating our 20th year in the  White Horse (must be doing something right eh!) as part of this celebration, we were selling beer at 1994 prices and as a consequence probably attracted people who would not normally drink in the pub and were certainly not a representation of our normal clientele. We are not dependant on drunken locals for our livelihood, as our many genuine locals and visitors will testify. With regard to the size of the room, this room is designated as a single, we do however, for the sleep quality of guests choose to use a 3/4 bed, it is after all for sleeping not living in. I don't consider music until 11.30 at weekend in a Pub to be unreasonable.

Well impressed!
Expected no frills for such a reasonable price, but my room was clean, cosy, spacious, and was complete with toiletries and brew making facilities (including biscuits and hot chocolate, which was great after a long bike ride).
Great service and a lovely breakfast. Highly recommended, bargain price!

Good Pub/Guesthouse
Description on Late Rooms slightly underplays what the White Horse has to offer. Did not expect to find pleasant local pub, with accommodation in converted stable block at rear, away from street and other noises. Better than expected.

A base after a day out walking - very comfortable
My friend and I went walking on Sutton Bank and saw this B&B was not too far away so we booked it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with a clean bathroom and soft beds. There was a small tv so we didn't miss Dr Who (we are a bit geeky) and then we went out for tea. We didn't eat in the pub downstairs in the evening however we did have breakfast in the morning which was lovely. The bacon was amazing. There wasn't a lot of parking at the back but we got parked on the main road without any issues. Overall a good, comfy, no frills place to stay if you are exploring the area for a few days.

The White Horse Inn
Room was very clean and spacious with a double and a single bed and large en-suite bathroom. Room was upstairs on top floor (two flights of stairs to climb), which can be a bit tedious if you have a lot of luggage and not as young as you used to be. Breakfasts were first class, full English variety, and cooked and served personally by mine host! Jeannie the Great Dane is very friendly and provides the security. Highly recommended.
