Great country B&B on the edge of Norwich

Staying as a young couple we both really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Colts Lodge.

The owners were very friendly and served up a delicious cooked breakfast each morning we were there. We were staying in the en suite room which was spacious and clean. The thing we liked most about it was the view which looked out onto a large field where in the short time we were there we saw deer, a woodpecker that came very close to the window and a regular large flock of geese (several hundred at a time). The location itself was excellent for us as we wanted to visit Norwich which was a very short drive away but would be equally convenient for those that wanted to avoid the city entirely for a walking/bird watching holiday in the Broads.

Great hosts, a home away from home in a beautiful tranquil setting.

We booked around 10.30 pm and arrived around 11.00 pm, the hosts were really welcoming, the room was great.

It felt as if we had gone to stay with friends. Would definitely go again and definitely recommend it.

Lovely find

Stayed here to enable us to spend done time in a Norwich and relax in the countryside.

Beautiful place and surroundings and Andy and Caz were great hosts. We had a car so commuting was easy for us and if you are ok with walking the park and ride is in walkable distance enabling you catch buses too and from Norwich. We had the large room with the ensuite and this us definitely worth paying a little bit extra for. As well as the room there is use of a dining room with facilities to make hot drinks and a huge lounge complete with wood burner, library area and piano. There is nothing on the actual village itself but the outskirts of Norwich is a short drive away where you can find an assortment if pubs and restaurants to suit all styles and budgets. We will definitely be going back in the near future.

Make sure you ask which room you have booked

On arrival passing the other 2 rooms we were pleasantly surprised - on arriving at our tiny room we were dismayed.

Tiny room taken up almost completely by the double bed and one tiny side table. One chair where we put our maps and books was then unusable as a chair. Only half the wardrobe opened as the tiny side table was in the way. All our bags and bits were spread out on the floor as not even a shelf to put anything on. One high small window. The description said "shared with one other delux room". The other 2 rooms looked as if they were but this one was definitely NOT. The managers were friendly and the breakfast fine. Just make sure you ask which room you have before you book as this room is only suitable as a single.

Response from hotel

Hello Jane sorry to read you were unhappy with the size of the room you booked. It is the smallest room out of the 3 we have and sells

really well without any problems. I understand you required space for your maps and this was an issue you were more than welcome to use the lounge and dining area that is for our guests sole use.

If you choose to return at any time in the future please ring us and we can organise the best room for your needs. Again sorry

your stay was not what you had wished it to be.

One if not the best Bed and Breakfast experiences I have had.

This started even before arriving with an excellent text, highlighting the way to get to the hotel and warning of roadworks. The setting is simply beautiful, set on farmland just off the A47, meaning it is well connected despite being in picturesque countryside. The Managers were extremely welcoming and genuinely interested in our conversations and very accommodating. I could not recommend this B&B more.
