Bed linen good but the duvet needs to be replaced, it was very heavy and did not fit the cover. The bed was small most hotels have two singles or king size beds.
The bathroom was large but as the sun came in through the very large window (and the toilet faced the window so was overlooked by the houses on the other side) this requires a blind.
The shelf above the basin is in the wrong place as your head hits the shelf when bending down to have a wash.

Room was cold
The room was well furnished and clean,at night however the heating went off and as it was January the room went very cold.We told room service who gave us an extra quilt and said to check the radiators in case we had turned them off. The heating had been turned off during the night and came on again the next morning. As the building is very old and the windows let a lot of draught in I would have expected to be kept warm on a winters night. The breakfast was very good. I would stay again if it was guaranteed the room would be heated at all times.

Excellent - would definitely recommend
We arrived quite late to check in at about 8.15 p.m. and were welcomed warmly at Reception where we thankfully were told they served dinner until 9 p.m.
Lovely warm atmosphere, helped by an roaring open fire in a hotel full of character. We only stayed for one night and both our evening meal and breakfast were first class. All staff were very friendly, informative and accommodating.

Lion & Swan, Congleton
A very old historic building full of character. Room was clean and tidy. Good value for money. Only had a continental breakfast so can't comment on the food.
