In need of TLC

i didn't enjoy staying in this hotel- it is lacking in any character and is in need of some TLC.

although the staff were pleasant, I wouldn't stay here again.

a lovely stay.

Stayed here before, & returned because it offers all a traveler could need from a hotel / B&B, pleasant rooms (use a twin) new decor, good facilities, shower works fine, beds are clean, well made & comfortable.

Breakfast has all one could need to see you for the day. I visit the stirchley area every 6 months or so & will look to stay here every time.

Madeira Hotel

Really friendly welcome and upgraded when we arrived.

An excellent recommendation for an Indian meal. Omar Kayan. Really good food. Breakfast was good and hotel manager was extremely friendly and happy to chat.

Weekend break

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights.

The staff were polite and helpful, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was continental but for a small charge you could have a full English breakfast. There was plenty to choose from, the dinning room was spacious and clean. The only thing I would say was about the locks on the doors. You have to lock the door at all times, the door would not close there was no catch on the door and it kept coming open. We did forget to lock the door whilst in the room and another guest walked to our room.

Excellent staff

The staff were very helpful, especially the gentleman who served the breakfast.

There was not enough he could do. The room was clean and had all that was needed; however on the small side. The bathroom, ensuite, needed a radiator, but it had all that it needed. The room was clean and well stocked.

A Wonderful Stay - Lovely Staff

We stayed here for one night as we travelled to visit Birmingham and it's Sealife Centre.

The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do more for us - Even down to replacing the tea bags etc late evening.

The room was lovely. Extremely clean bed clothes, and had everything we needed for our one night stay - A television, kettle, en-suite. The only thing that let the room down was the shower. I think more water would have come out of a strainer.

Other than that, which was no major problem at all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone. Good value for money is an understatement. It's fanfanatic value.

I recently stayed at this hotel for one night as I was attending a party for a friend down the road.

When I checked in the woman was fairly friendly as she knew my name but she didn't introduce herself to me. When I got to my bedroom I noticed it was very small and tiny as the single bed had a poor mattress with a poor second pillow. Turning to the bathroom the plug did not stay well in the sink, the shower didn't produce hot water very well and nor was it producing water well through the shower head. As for the TV it was poorly tuned and I only turned it on to get some noise. Before I went out to my party I knocked the office door and rang the doorbell as I needed advice on how to get to the venue of the party, nobody came to help and there was no number I could phone for advice and there was nothing showing for a local taxi firm and fortunately I managed to walk to the venue following my good memory of when I booked the hotel I remember it was about a mile door to door between the hotel and venue of the party. I got back to the hotel about 1:00am and went straight to sleep or at least tried to sleep but the room was very warm and stifling given I could not turn the heating off. Turning to breakfast I found the breakfast room myself where another couple were finishing off and I did not see anyone from the hotel. With that in mind I helped myself to cereal, yoghurt and coffee. A few minutes later the woman who checked me in asked me if I wanted any toast which I accepted but the bread was very dry and whilst I ate all the toast as I was hungry. After breakfast I returned to my room to finish off my packing and the room was still very warm, I cleaned my teeth but the cold water tap produced very dirty water and wasn't cold water and fortunately I had a bit of water from a complimentary water that had been left in my room on arrival. At 10:40am I left the hotel and handed the key back to your woman who checked me in and made my toast, she said good bye but didn't ask me how I found the hotel and whilst this might not sound much but I feel a little feedback could/would have really helped hence this review and regrettably I would not be inclined to stay here again as the location was mediocre, the price was the same but the level of service I am not convinced about and therefore I was fortunate I was only staying one night
