Clean, quiet, comfortable
I looked at a lot of hotel options before settling on The Holiday Inn Express.
My main concern was getting a decent night's sleep, and I was concerned that a lot of reviews I read for other hotels complained of noise from city centre pubs and clubs, so I chose something a short walk from the centre (5 mins walk at my brisk pace). When I arrived I was asked if I had a preference on floor. I asked to be put high up to escape street noise, and that night I slept well. The room was clean and well presented, the bed was comfortable, the shower was a good size with reasonable water pressure and nice hot water (I had 5 showers over the course of a 2 night stay, as I was running around Birmingham playing a real-time real-space game), and the air conditioning allowed for a comfortable room temperature to be maintained night and day. I didn't get round to sampling the breakfast while I was there, but from what I gathered at check-in it's a fairly simple continental breakfast.
Clean room, comfortable and good size.
Excellent value and great location.

Dear Rashid Q,

This is the second time I've stopped at this hotel and, again, I was not disappointed.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room and hotel was beautifully clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. There were a few scuffs on the wall in our room, so a lick of paint could be needed, but not essential. The location of the hotel is fab, close enough to the center of Birmingham so that you can walk everywhere, but not so close that you are in the busy heart of everything. The 24 hour pizza was very much appreciated after a few too many drinks, and went down a treat. The only small complaint we have is that the dining area for breakfast was rather cramped, with a lot of tables and chairs squeezed into a tight space making it quite difficult to get in and out. The area the breakfast was served was also a little cramped, and didn't have as much of a selection as we expected, but was still very nice. The car park located next to the hotel and the train station just around the corner is ideal, and allows for very easy access to the hotel. My fiance and I will definitely be looking to book this hotel again and will certainly recommend it to others.
Hotel better than it looks
The tower block near a busy expressway and in the midst of building works in the area gave me some doubts.
Not that easy to walk there as so much redevelopment going on but it had a good interior, helpful staff and all the basics you need. Room recently decorated and nicely tiled, generous shower. Tea tray a bit mean with only 2 tea bags but otherwise all good. Air conditioning not on so room a comfortable cool temp. Very good value for money on a Friday night.
Had a nice one night stay, room very clean and staff helpful.
Ordered us a taxi from the hotel to a restaurant. In 10 minutes walking distance from the bullring, however not many restaurants within walking distance. Air conditioning came on repeatedly through the night even when turned off which got quite annoying. Breakfast okay but no bacon?. Overall an enjoyable, comfortable stay.

Friendly ,helpful staff, lovely atmosphere
My sisters and I booked to stay at this hotel, the night of Boxing Day.
It was within walking distance to the event that we were attending and also only a short distance/small charge via taxi. We were pleasantly surprised by the room rate for all 3 of us. The fact that it included a buffet breakfast too was a bonus. We did not need wifi access but I think that it is included as standard to that hotel group as well. The parking was pretty pricey at £12 however just behind the hotel about (2min) is a street which allows parking. The time that we went was outside the parking charge time frame so we just had to pay a small amount on the parking meter in the morning. Much cheaper. Less than £5. Just make sure that you pay otherwise the Traffic wardens will have a field day. The staff were not as happy and friendly as I have experienced in some of the other branches but maybe it was due to it being late evening, a little busy and the Christmas period.
The manager, Eduard, was soo helpful. He was quite pleasant made sure that if we had any issues that they were tended to. Laterooms allows for you to book a room for 3 (2 adults & 1 child up to age 19yrs), they state that there is a sofa bed in the room. We booked on that basis, however the sofabed had not been set up. Eduard made us aware that it was because they did not know the age of the child and so they leave the space for a cot. He also told us that the room was not suitable for all of us as we were of the ages 19+. He advised that we view the room and then come back to him if we were not happy. We did as suggested and upon leaving out for the night he told us that when we return just stop by the desk to pick up a new room key so we could swap our rooms. It was little inconvenient in that sense but we were quite happy to grab our belongings and head to a room that he found more suitable for us all. Overall, we had a great stay. It was comfortable, warm and clean. All the things that you want whilst away from home.
New years Eve 2015
Stopped at this hotel new years eve 2015, Staff were lovely and helpful as was the duty manager.
The air con in the room was not working, room 1600, when I mentioned this they brought up a heater which kind of did the job, but I was disappointed, I spoke with the manager on check out who reflected this back with a refund which helped. I do have to say that the view out the window at mid night was great as all the fire works from all over the city made it worth while.
