Gorgeous hotel!
Hotel is a little family run place with beautiful rooms in. The detail is so cute and the beds are comfy as well as the luxury of memory foam pillows which you don't get often. The service was amazing and the landlady Jo is one of the friendliest welcoming people I have had the pleasure to meet, accommodating all our requirements with a beaming smile. Good location, and the breakfast was amazing!!! Would definitely stay again.

Disappointed
We were booked for two nights but after getting very little sleep due to a very hard bed and hard pillows, we only stayed one. The owner was very charming but I feel she needs to look at what she is offering for the high price she is charging. Also my first impressions of the place and the appearance of the dining area on the website does not match what is there now. At the price I expect a small soap and shampoo, not left overs of unknown origin.
I know this is a harsh review and difficult as the owner was so pleasant but a 2007 four star accreditation is not what it was!

I did explain to Mr and Mrs Stephens that my pillows are memory foam, and that there are always soft pillows available on request. Most people love the memory foam pillows so I thought that the expense of upgrading to them would be beneficial. However I do understand that everyone's different and for that reason I offer an alternative. They made no request, but put up with what was sadly for them an uncomfortable night. The same really is the case for what they considered to be a hard bed. I normally get complimentary comments about how comfortable my beds are, but again everyone's different and I accept that. I have mattress enhances on all beds, with expensive mattresses, and I think they're the most comfortable beds in the town! The comment regarding toiletries confuses me. The shower gels are sealed individual miniature bottles replaced and new for every guest, and the hand soap is a soap dispenser. I have found soap dispensers to be far more hygienic than individual soap tablets, which I moved away from years ago! I'm sorry that Mr and Mrs Stephens chose to stay only one of the two nights booked, but I totally understood if they felt they weren't comfortable. I wished them well and I did not charge a penny for their late cancellation on what was one of the busiest weekends in Shrewsbury. I want "happy campers" and the high level of returnees is testament to the efforts I make to ensure guest comfort. We did laugh about the fact that I'd have changed the pillows, but could do nothing about in my view "my rather gorgeous bed". It's a fact of life that you can't please all the people all the time.....but I do try!

A basic b& b
This was a little basic really. The very small towel provided was hard and most unpleasant to dry yourself. The sink in the tiny ensuite, with a fairly lethal step up, only drained very slowly and the shower was unpleasantly aromatic. The room itself was fine but a bit noisy from the road. I was pleased I was only there for 10 hours! It was a relatively cheap place to sleep.

I'm sorry that this lady didn't enjoy her stay, but am somewhat puzzled by her comments. The small towel she referred to is actually the coloured foot mat....I agree it's not as pleasant as drying yourself with the white beautiful towels I provided for her. Her comment about it being "basic" is also a mystery. In her room were fresh flowers on her bedside cabinet, well stocked hospitality tray, complimentary wifi, bottled water, boxed tissues, and even a chocolate on her pillow! Breakfast at Charnwood is whatever the guest wants...and the help yourself cereal selection is extensive with pumpkin, sunflower and flax toppings as well as fresh fruit and yoghurt assortment. I have checked the two friends in case my hay fever is limiting my ability to detect any smell other than cleaning products in the shower, but we are all mystified. However I would like to offer this lady a complimentary stay in a different room, as I constantly strive to provide an above expectation service.

Disappointed
Facilities did not match photos. The room was crammed and the "en-suite" was nothing more than a cubby-hole built in the corner of an averrable size room.

A very friendly Guest house
A very warm welcome to the guest house. The room was very small but my husband is 6ft 6in so most rooms are small to us. The shower was compact to say the least however the room was very clean and there was tea and coffee facilities available in the room. The breakfast the next morning was nice and the lady who ran the guest house could not have been nicer. The only reason I would not stay here again would be the size of my husband v the shower however I would recommend it to others.

Thank you for this kind review. My lovely son was the person who was there to welcome you...but he's 22, and so didn't think to give you one of the other rooms to make your husband ( who I agree is a "big fella" ) more comfortable in the shower. The other two rooms have showers which are twice the size of the shower in room 2 which you were in. Please call again, but need to state not the garden view room. Thanks anyway, it was lovely to meet you! Jo
