Reviews - Blacksmiths Arms Inn

4Self Classified Small Hotel Ratings explained
High Street Cloughton, Scarborough, YO13 0AE
This 250 year old family run inn located between Scarborough and Whitby and offers free Wi-Fi, roaring log fires and a restaurant with an excellent local reputation. Since 1979 the Blacksmiths Arms has been sympathetically and expertly restored to a high standard and is now regarded as one of the area’s most charming and popular Inns. One of Britain's few remaining authentic country Inns, the building is located next door to the area's only fully operational Smithy – a traditional and fitting source of the inn’s moniker. With neighbouring Scarborough and splendid National Park scenery nearby, The Blacksmiths Arms is an ideal place to relax and enjoy comfort, food and excellent Yorkshire hospitality.

Bedrooms are fully en-suite, decorated and equipped to a very high standard and including a range of comforting features, such as flat screen televisions, free Wi-Fi and coffee/tea making facilities. Four holiday cottages are located behind the main building, all of which are fully equipped and self-contained with en-suite facilities - ideal for a special family getaway. This popular and comfortable hostelry is ideal for everyone.

The Dining Room is a charming well appointed Oak Beamed Restaurant with a cosy and intimate atmosphere. A selection of home-made specialities, bar meals and lunches are available every day at both lunch times and evenings. On Sundays the Blacksmiths is the perfect place for Traditional Fare, with three courses served in the Dining Room or courses of your choice in the Lounge. The olde worlde atmosphere and character of the two bars is a fine example of times long gone - in fact very little has changed in these rooms in over two hundred years . On chilly nights, the open fire burns logs from the Duchy forest, sending out the warmth and comfort synonymous with this hostelry. The fine furnishings and traditional furniture offer a unique and rare example of a traditional, well preserved English Country Inn.

Situated in the attractive village of Cloughton, the inn is located just 4 miles from the centre of the popular seaside resort of Scarborough. Here, an assortment of traditional coastal attractions can be found, including the town’s Victorian era pier, a range of restaurants and pubs, the popular beach and a selection of theatres, cinemas and historical buildings to enjoy. A short drive north of Cloughton will take you to the beautiful and historic coastal town of Whitby, another of North Yorkshires coastal treasures, as well as the delightful village of Robin Hood’s Bay, famed for its dramatic sea views. A journey inland provides the perfect opportunity to explore the popular North York Moors, offering miles of interrupted hills and valleys with hundreds of footpaths providing interesting hiking trails set against beautiful natural scenery.

Please Note - Mon-Thur no check in between 2:30-5pm, Unless prior notice given.

Attention to detail made this saty wonderful
My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary on 20th Sept. We had booked a celebration package and it was worth every penny. The room was luxurious and included a lovely four poster bed. A bottle of prosecco was waiting for us in an ice bucket and a box of milk tray. They were lovely touches and made our stay very special. We didnt have our evening meal here but wished we had as the food looked lovely. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was all cooked freshly to order and was free of grease. A nice selection of fruit, yoghurts, cereals and fruit juices was on offer and lots of spreads to accompany the toast. The staff couldnt do enough for you and very all friendly. A lovely place and good value for money.

Staff were all great. Very friendly and service was excellent. We couldn't fault the food, everything cooked perfectly. The only thing that let our stay down really was the bathroom. We stayed in the outside annexe. The bedroom was small but ok, but the bathroom had black mould around the tiles on the bath, the floor tiles were cracked and the shower was one where you have to jump in jump out due to the changes in temperature of the water. Red hot then freezing cold.

A great find
A spur of the moment decision to have a night away. Many places in Scarborough already fully booked; this is a little way out, but what a pleasant place. Staff friendly and helpful; a good selection of drinks available, including 2 hand-pulled real ales. Food choice varied; quality was excellent. Room was clean and very comfortable.

weekend away
Arrived to a friendly welcome, our room was as asked for quiet and a double, away from the main building made it very private, which was lovely. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Our supper taken in the pub was served very by a cheerful lady who was very attentive. Breakfast was included and we could ask for almost anything. We would go again and be happy to tell other people to go.
