We enjoyed our stay and would go back
Lovely listed building with unique decoration.
The staff on the whole were extremely helpful and friendly. Terry was very welcoming on our arrival. Our room was changed with no problem because we wanted one with a bath. the only thing lacking was drawer space and a dressing table and it would have been handy if there wasn't just tables by the bedside but proper bedside units instead.
More of a pub than a hotel
This hotel did not really feel like a hotel.
We had a nice room and a comfortable bed but we had to pass through the kitchen on our way to the room. Reception was at the bar and meals and breakfast were in the very dark bar area. That would all have been fine, but the prices were that of a four star hotel and that was not the experience.
The Tunbridge Wells Hotel
Room very basic for a double room, one chair, one bedside table and lamp, bed was very small for a double.
It was three quarter at best. Felt as if the room was for a single occupancy rather than double. Breakfast within the charge was very limited and basic with 'English breakfast' having to be paid for item by item. For the price paid the value was very poor. My wife ordered rack of lamb for dinner and received leg of lamb (as did another diner). When challenged the waiter insisted it was rack of lamb taken of the bone by the chef. He later told us and the other diner it was in fact rump. When checking out the service charge was added to the whole bill, including the bill for dinner which we had signed for and which included a service charge i.e. The service charge was added twice. This seemed to be a common problem from the comment of the staff member who amended our bill.
The Tunbridge Wells Hotel
Great location and has a quirky Victorian feel with a French twist.
Quite expensive, although the breakfast was adequate for the rates charged I would have hoped they would have included full English or other alternatives in the price rather than charge extra. The evening meal was disappointing, the rack of lamb was not very good for the three of us that ordered it.
Lovely building in a beautiful part of Tunbridge Wells.
The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. But the room was on the fifth floor and there was no lift and there was no tea making facility in the room. There was a notice about how we would be charged more than £5.00 if we took the water bottle that was in the room, and although the breakfast was perfectly adequate, there was a spirit of ungenerosity that made us feel unwelcome - statements like 'you are allowed 'one' of the following' . This contrasted with the hotel we had stayed in the night before where for the same price, we were treated so kindly.
Could have been better.
Stayed here for one night for a special occasion.
Stayed in the family room purely because every other room was booked probably because of Valentines day. The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, showed us to our room (16) and expalined everything very clearly. We had two big issues the we felt let the experience down and the first one was noise. The walls are so thin we could hear peoples conversations from the adjacent rooms, and they werent shouting. But the noise from the road outside and the traffic noise was terrible. I would strongly advise not to stay in a room overlooking the main road if you can help it. The bed itself was comfortable and the room spacious and clean. The bathroom was obviuosly recently refurbished which is always a good thing.
Our second annoyance was the description on laterooms.com. The bed in the family room is not a king size bed. We are used to a king bed at home and the description on this website states a king bed in the family room. Its not so, its a double. Not sure if this is the fault of the hotel or laterooms.com but there you go - was a bit dissappointed. Breakfast was limited but good quality, we both enjoyed it. Would we stay here again. Yes, but different room and if the price was right - and would recommend it to friends and family.
The Tunbridge Wells Hotel
Lovely friendly staff , accommodation clean fresh and cosy.
Good place to stay
Nice hotel but lacking quality.
The hotel has good and bad points.
The staff are fantastic and were really helpful and the room looked like it had had money spent on it in the bathroom but unfortunately that's were the positives end. The room was so hot it made a nights sleep very difficult, and as the hotel is right on the main Road (the A26) you can't open the window without the constant sound of traffic. The bathroom looked really nice and had obviously has recently had money spent on it with very high quality finishing's, unfortunately these were installed to the required standard. for example the shower couldn't be turned on as the handle to turn on the shower was blocked by another handle, with some fiddling the shower could be turned on. The shower curtain had mould on the bottom and looked like it hadn't been washed in quite some time, this is possibly due to it been screwed to the wall. We were running a little late in the morning and the staff made up some breakfast for us to take away. In short the hotel served a purpose but I don't feel it was good value for money. I wouldn't choose to stay here again.
Great location.Room had view of extractor fan and fire escape.
Lighting poor we couldn't read our papers also room gloomy but clean. Very friendly staff. Bed and bathroom lovely. Breakfast mean. I suggest a more generous breakfast, paint the room a lighter colour, improve lighting and sell that room with a cavet about depressing view. Staff lovely, food good. Has potential to be a gem but isn't luxury.
