Friendly and traditional

The Pound Inn is in Coxley - a good location between Wells and Glastonbury with scope for touring in the Levels and the Mendips.

The inn is of the traditional variety - quiet and cosy. There is live entertainment on occasion and the locals are always good to talk to. The staff are very friendly and keen to offer a welcome and the food (we had only breakfast) is wholesome, local fare. The room we had was basic but comfortable. In spite of being next to the road we had a peaceful night.

overnight stay 4th July 2014

Don't be put off by the outside appearance as it could do with a coat of paint.

Inside the pub is cosy, clean and well furnished. Eating areas in the bar and restaurant. we were met by the landlady who was very welcoming and friendly as was the barmaid and the chef. Evening food good pub type, well cooked and reasonably priced. Locals friendly. this is an old property and stairs are a bit steep. Room, clean and well equipped. Excellent breakfast. Overall very good value for money.

Lovely room, helpful hosts

We only stayed for one night.

Large room wonderful hosts. When our hostess was showing us the room she found the shower did not work and offered to find us somewhere else to go if we wanted. There was a bath so it was not a problem. It was pub food and as such quite acceptable. Breakfast was good. Nice atmosphere in the pub but it would have been nice if the fire had been lit.

smashing place

Would have given highest marks for food but the "carvery"was not a true carvery(due no doubt to the lack of customers);the breakfast was great;the hosts were very welcoming and friendly;the interior was absolutely charming and very clean and we would certainly stay there again if we are ever down that way

Home from Home

Stayed one night after dropping our son off at Shepton Mallet.

Was very impressed with the welcome we received when we arrived. We stayed in a room which was for 3 adults, it was lovely very clean and as my Daughter said "homely". The owners were both very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. We would recommend The Pound Inn and would happily stay there again. Thank you to the owners for a very enjoyable stay.

Friendly Stop Over

My wife and I stopped one night at the Pound Inn we received a friendly welcome, the room was basic and the bed mattress could do with replacing, the shower was adequate but there was no hot water from the basin tapes.

A good breakfast and the bar was clean. Traffic could be heard in the bedroom.

reasonable overal overnight stay

At the beginning we couldn't get an answer when arrived, the owner threw a key out the window to the barmaid to let us in and show us the room.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. We didn't have an evening meal went to the town instead. A few drinks in the bar which was nice and oldie worldy. Breakfast was prompt and enjoyable.
