Reviews - St Benedict B&B

4Self Classified Bed and Breakfast Ratings explained
St.Benedict, 81 Pevensey Road, St.Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings, TN38 0LR
St Benedict is a beautiful and comfortable home built in 1881, and is finished and run with the style and comfort of a bygone age. On arrival our guests may take tea on the lawns where a snowy cloth is laid with fine china and home baking straight from the Aga or in the winter sit in the drawing room in front of a roaring fire. If you wish you can arrange to have a full dinner in the victorian dining room with a choice of Mrs Beeton's traditional recipes prepared 'below stairs'. Every morning tea can be brought to you before you come down for breakfast, served country house style. Help yourself to a full English breakfast or try such empire favourites as kedgeree. We have two cosy second-floor double bedrooms with sea views. Each guest room has its own private bathroom with sink or washstand, a rolltop bath with a handheld hairwashing attachment. There is no shower. Before you leave why not enjoy a stroll through the garden, the peach house, or sit in the summer house or even have a few minutes' quiet in the garden chapel. We will do our best to make your visit to St Benedict an opportunity for you to be well looked after and even spoilt a little! Hastings is a cosmopolitan coastal town which lies between the rugged beauty of the East and West Hills and has its own 660 acre country park. Home to Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet. This charming market town grew up around the Abbey and takes its name from the 1066 battle between England's would-be rulers William, Duke of Normandy and the Saxon King Harold. With famous international events & festivals in Goodwood, Glyndebourne,Chichester, Arundel, Eastbourne and Britain's newest National Park - The South Downs, Sussex is the place to visit this summer.

Charming and enjoyable
We had a warm welcome and found it very comfortable. The authentic Victorian furnishings were all very interesting. It was almost like staying overnight in a museum (but a very friendly one), with a fantastic view of the sea. If you're a fan of Downton Abbey, you'll love it.

Old victorian house
House is nice if you are into old Victorian property. Not modern, no shower, very noisy toilet. Back garden beautiful, but there was no access for guests. You had to request access, and then side gate would be open. It felt you were intruding and they did not want guests in the garden. Only stay here if you don't like showers, and you like to feel your gone back in time. The breakfast looked very appetising and was set out very nicely in dining room, however the cereal tasted stale, and the coffee weak. It was all served in small Victorian cutlery.

Very beautiful
My daugther and I stayed in the nursery room. the room was perfect, and the house was lovely and the owners looked after us very well
it is a wonderful place- good value for money and you really do step back in time Its a passion for the owners and that passion is displayed throughout - what a gem ! you might want to think though if you have small children - that it may not be appropriate but for adults its perfection !
