Wonderful, family-friendly, spotlessly clean, excellent quality breakfast

The Fisherman's room in the Reading Rooms overlooks the old bridge and the river, couldn't be better.

Few places meet our standards of cleanliness but this one does, it is spotless, excellent standard. Run by a very good family, this is a treasure. Breakfast was of excellent quality, beautifully cooked. The family are very kind and helpful beyond the call of duty. And hugely knowledgeable about the area. The Reading Rooms are an outstanding choice . Totally recommended. This is the place to stay.

Friendly and suited our needs

A warm welcome to a clean and comfortable B&B.

We stayed here when going to a wedding and it was exactly what we needed. Good breakfast and friendly service.

An excellent stay in a beautiful place!

I arrived at 6pm for an overnight stay in this lovely village.

The welcome was very warm, with great recommendations for dinner. The warm room and en suite were spotlessly clean, with plenty of storage for clothes. Breakfast was lovely with home made and local produce used. I would highly recommend this B&B without hesitation for anyone requiring a home from home stay. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Shabby

We were very disappointed with the general appearance of The Reading Rooms and wonder how it got its 4 star rating.

The carpet in the hall and stairs was grimy as was the upholstery in our room. There were dirty marks on the walls both in the hall and stairs and in our room. The bathroom was clearly in need of updating. The young girls in charge of the property were casual in appearance and attitude and we objected to a £1 charge to pay with a debit/credit card.
