Unreliable booking
We booked our room on 23/08/13 for the following night through late rooms. We were pleased with our choice however a lady called Margaret phoned me on the morning of our expected stay telling me that the room we had booked wasn't free as a large family party had extended their booking , she offered us an alternative cottage. I was hesitant. She said she would get back to me and see what she could do. I then phoned her back and said we would take it anyway to which she said " oh we can't fit you now due to the other guests staying" I told her I was unimpressed as we had organised our weekend around this booking to which her reply was to put the phone down on me !!! I thought she was very unapologetic , unprofessional , unreliable and rude !! Disappointing to have to tell my 5 & 6 year olds that we couldn't go. Stressful to then find another hotel for the same day on a bank holiday weekend. If you book with this hotel make sure you confirm over the phone as they are unreliable !! Good luck !!

Good Accommodation but strange set up!
The room was very good and the breakfast was excellent. The service during breakfast was jolly and welcoming with a thoughtful present given to every guest on Christmas morning. However it is a very strange set up. We arrived at 5 p.m. and had to telephone the number on the door to be given the code to get into the property. There were also two holes in the ceiling and a water stain. The B&B works if you do not require any support or help as there appears to be no-one on site in the evening!

ManagementResponse

A system for checking into the Guesthouse was put in place for late check in's. We do not live on site the name Guest House, is what it should be a house for guests, when guests check in they have full use of the house and its facilities i.e. kitchen etc. we have telephones for people to contact us should they need assistance at any time. The rooms are also painted and updated every year in the quiet period, which is in the winter months, we started on the ground floor 2 weeks ago and making our way up - the holes in the ceiling Kathryn room are plaster which have worked loose these are nail holes in the plaster board, these and painting are in progress, we are 5 star not 3 star and our standards are greatly important to us, and this couple were made more than welcome, and asked more than once if everything was to satisfaction, I am struggling to understand their comments, as comments like theirs are totally unfounded and can be detrimental to my business, which we both put so much into it, and also step out of the box to not only welcome but make Christmas, Weddings Birthdays, Valentine etc very very special, Champagne breakfasts gifts etc. I am very open to any criticism or any way we can improve, which we did by putting in place an electronic entry system.
