Reviews - The Star Inn

3Self Classified Inn Ratings explained
130 High Street, , , Edenbridge, TN8 5AY
The Star Inn main body built in 1745 is full of character, the main bar area although small is welcoming, our central bar provides a great place for discussion and our locals are nearly as freindly as our bar staff. Our open fire, beams and ambient lighting makes for a cosy setting. With the benefit of not being tied to any brewery we are able to promote a varied amount of real ales and offer a wide range of draught products, bottled products & bar snacks. We offer a wide range of traditional pub food, home cooked, that will satisfy all tastes. There are 3 flat screen televisions for all mayor sporting events largest of which is 50ins, a pool table, jukebox, quiz and a £70 jackpot gaming machine. There is a covered smoking area provided which leads on to our large beer garden. The beer garden in a perfect setting on a warm day, the garden has beautiful views and leads onto the River Eden. Children are welcome and will love the open space and the climbing frame with swings. We have 8 letting rooms - 1 family room, 2 doubles & 5 twin rooms. All rooms are accessable from the outside so your movements will never be restricted. There is flatsceen freeview televisions in all rooms with tea & coffee facilites. Edenbridge is only 30 miles from London, 49 minutes by train to London Bridge, we have two stations with trains running regularly throughout the day. Gatwick airport is a 30 minute drive or train trip away. Being in the heart of the tourist area of West Kent the Star Inn is fantastic value for money that offers you a perfect base to explore the beautiful areas surrounding Edenbridge. Situated opposite Hever road, Hever Castle was the childhood home to Anne Boleyn, the 13th century castle is surrounded by magnificent gardens including the yew and water maze - a must visit! A few other places of interest are: Squerryes Court a beautiful 17th century manor house featured in the BBC period drama Emma, Penshurst Place, Groombridge Place Gardens & Chartwell.

a bit basic
The staff are really friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. But the rooms are fairly poky and up a couple of metal staircases in out-buildings behind what is a basic local pub, not a coaching inn. Bedrooms are warm and clean but with some peripheral lights not working. This would be fine if one was paying £45. But £65 seemed a bit steep for the quality even though it included two slap-up breakfasts. Thanks to the kind staff, all the same. I think they should cut their prices a bit.

Value at the Star Inn
Warm welcome, solid food and lovely breakfast with no fuss. The place is a bit faded around the edges but perfectly fairly priced for room, food and drinks... happy hour was a bit of a bonus. Thanks

Reasonably priced accommodation.
Stayed in a twin en-suite room with my teenage daughter, room clean and bright, bathroom good.
Spent two weeks here and was allowed to have the same room which was good.
Food was reasonably priced.
Staff very pleasant.
Parking quite tight at rear of pub however there is a free car park about a minute away.
The only thing you need to remember is that accommodation is above a public house so will experience some noise.
Overall enjoyable experience and would recommend.

Lovely characterful pub with great staff
An old fashioned quirky pub in the centre of Edenbridge.
Room was basic but very clean and the staff could not have been more helpful.
We would definately visit again if in the area,
Thank you

Another case of looked better online.
There was a genuine uneasy atmosphere around this please. You have to go through an absolute shabby pub, before your greeted by the rundown look. The rooms are acceptable if you were £20 a night but NO MORE! I'm glad I didn't stay there longer than a day!
