Reviews - The Beacon

4AA Assessed Restaurant with Rooms Ratings explained
Tea Garden Lane, Rusthall, , Royal Tunbridge Wells, TN3 9JH
The Beacon offers Four Star accommodation set in a 19th Century building complete with stained glass windows on the attractively wooded Tea Garden Lane. It features magnificent views over our 17 acres of land and the surrounding countryside, views which have barely altered since a Victorian guide book observed it to be 'as beautiful as any England affords'. Ideally located a 5 minute taxi ride from the station, we are within easy walking distance of the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. The delightful town of Grimbridge is 15 minutes drive, Penshurst Place 20 and Hever Castle ½ an hour. We are a perfect base for golf, cycling or fishing fans, with the nearest golf course 2 miles away and several more within 20-30 minutes. Fishing is possible in any one of the lakes on our grounds. The Beacon is well known in Tunbridge for its excellent restaurant offering modern English/European cuisine, and is a member of Kentish Fair, with all food locally sourced where possible. Guests can relax on our outside decking area in the summer, or by log fires in the oak paneled bar in the winter. Alternatively, take a walk through our grounds complete with a large treehouse for the children, woodland walks, wildlife, lakes and one of the few genuine ‘chalybeate’ springs left in England. Free parking. Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, Egyptian cotton sheets in all rooms.

My husband was using crutches after an operation the staff couldn't have been more helpful. There is no lift so he had to manage the stairs. The accommodation is old and the shutters were great until the morning light came in. Each room is themed which adds to the escape theory.

Quirky with a fantastic view
I booked this room to attend a friends birthday party and had a wonderful lazy afternoon soaking up the sun on the terrace with a spectacular view. Single room was a pleasant surprise- bright, airy with a contemporary decor. Wonderful friendly service. Will definitely return!
