3Visit England Assessed Hotel Ratings explained
Rylstone Gardens , , , Shanklin, PO37 6RG
Rylstone Manor was originally built as a gentleman's residence in 1863 and remained a private residence until 1923. The Manor is of Victorian proportion and incorporates a blend of Gothic, Tudor and Georgian influences which reflects its unique charms both externally and within. The exquisitely decorated interior offers a warm and intimate atmosphere, where you are encouraged to just relax and enjoy its unique surroundings. Rylstone gardens are situated on the cliff top overlooking the Shanklin, Sandown bay and are just a short walk from the beach front, Shanklin Chine and the Old Village with its thatched shops and cottages. Why not sit back and relax in the comfort of the drawing room, this beautifully decorated room is the perfect place to sit and enjoy your afternoon tea. An inspirational room for you to sit and enjoy the view of the Rylstone Gardens and maybe write those post cards. Or just relax and enjoy a good book with your after dinner drink. Sit back and enjoy your evening in the warm intimate atmosphere of the bar lounge. The bar offers a warm sociable atmosphere for everyone to gather for a drink and a chat, or to just sit back and relax with your pre or after dinner drink. Shanklin Town is within a twenty minute walk of the Hotel and offers a good mix of shops and services. Buses to all parts of the Island can be caught from the center of the Town, and a train service is also offered to Lake, Sandown, Brading and Ryde. The Manor offers Private parking for residents and is a good base for those wishing to explore the Island by car. Since taking over Rylstone we have maintained our rating of three stars and gained a silver award from the tourist board. They are recommended in the independent "Good Hotel Guide" every year since 2006. In 2008 they were finalists in Conde Nast Johansens excellence awards for " Most Excellent Value award for UK & Ireland". They went on to win this award outright for 2009. The Hotel is completely non smoking

A wonderful friendly atmosphere exist in this hotel. Lovely setting in the surrounding park, easy walk into Shanklin, excellent and varied menu for both breakfast and evening meals. It was not possible to find fault with any aspect in our enjoyable stay at the Rylstone Manor Hotel.

Recommended for quality, friendliness and peace and quiet
I was greeted by the proprietors on arrival and personally shown to my room. I immediately felt very welcome and comfortable.
The room was spotless and full of individual character, the bathroom also had an excellent modern shower and high quality soaps etc.
I was eating out as meeting colleagues that night, but was greeted by a superb cooked breakfast the next morning again served in a tranquil, friendly atmosphere in the lovely restaurant area.
I would recommend to couples wanting a special break, or business travellers wanting a quality place with absolutely no noise from others on a night giving a good nights sleep, the hotel does not pretend to cater for masses of people wanting huge facilities and the noise and fuss that goes with it.
It is not a bad thing that it is set in beautiful gardens within the superb location of Shanklin which in itself has argueably one of the best areas on the whole island.
As travelling alone, I booked their smaller Cedar room but gather there are others to choose from as well.
I hope the proprietors find my comments a reflection of what they seem to be doing rather well.
