Very quiet, very good value for money, the breakfast was outstanding value for money.
Set in the countryside and surrounded by nature. Staff were very polite and accommodating, would highly recommend.
Characterful but jaded
The B&B is a very old and very rural farmhouse, and a family home.
You may need a sat-nav to find it. The house oozes character, and the owner is friendly. I booked an ensuite single room but was given a large ensuite room with double bed and single bed. The decor was is poor condition - peeling wallpaper and paintwork which hadn't been refreshed ion years. The window frames were rotting. There were dead insects on the windowsills and plenty of dust to be seen. The tiny TV with built-in video player (remember them). was the oldest I have seen in a B&B for years - but it worked OK. I enjoyed a good quality, freshly cooked breakfast in the slightly cluttered and dark dining room. At the price, this was reasonable value for money, and with a bit of re-furbishment, could be a gem.
Balterley Green Farm
Balterley Green Farm Clean spacious room-high quality cooked breakfast -I had to ask for a smaller portion !
Excellent all round.
Room 1st class, all you could wish for, Breakfast extremely good. Proper sausages (Lincolnshires) not the cheap pasty ones you get in most b&bs. If i need anywhere to stay in that area, that is where i will go.
If you like spiders and flies!
I hated the room.
I booked a twin room got a double bed jammed against two walls and a single. Spent the first ten minutes removing all the dead flies and spiders I could reach. No one had cleaned above eye level for months. The lampshade was encrusted with webs and dirt. The beds and bathroom were clean but there was no bin with a lid in either room. I needed one. Breakfast was ok but tinned mushrooms!
A rural gem !
With a commitment in Manchester the next day, I looked for a place to stay that was not too far away, and was not disappointed.
Previously I'd not considered staying at a farm, but am now converted . Rurally situated (there's very slight distant noise from the M6) the room was comfortable, well apppointed and quiet - in mine there was only an en-suite shower, rather than a bath. The satnav will take you there in the dark, down a narrow lane, and you'll need to look out for the small bed and breakfast sign, otherwise you might drive past. There's a private car park adjacent to the property. Breakfast was excellent abd wholesome. High;y recommended.
Perfect for a break!
Lovely accomodation in a peaceful setting, but within easy reach of the M6.
The breakfast was good and filling. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. My room was nice and clean, and had everything I needed. I would be more than happy to stay at Balterley Green Farm again, and would recommend it to anyone!
A value-for-money B&B
We stayed in the family room which had a good-sized double bed plus two single sofa beds.
It was a little cramped but then it was more or less what we expected. We were always made to feel welcome - even when the 3-year old had a major meltdown. Breakfast was good, too.
Very good B&B
We stayed in one of the double rooms in the new block.
As you might expect, these are better equipped than the ones in the farmhouse itself. The room was clean and it also had a single bed as well as our double, which restricted movement somewhat. We were made welcome and the food was good. Would happily come again.
Friendly & Comfortable.
Signs could be improved for locating in bad light.
